Ragnorak had a 2.6 X.

Shang Chi had a 2.99X

I was comparing the ratio of the gross after the first week to what each title made for full week 2 (using week to account for differing seasons), to illustrate the point that Batman didn't have great legs, so much as a really strong week 2 (second wave), and then OK holds after that. A pattern I don't think is likely to repeat with BPWF

Shang-Chi = ($224.5 - $109.8) / $45.4 = 2.53x

Guys this is literally what I was talking about in REAL-TIME!

He was probably getting dog-piled for being too negative

Most of the replies were along the lines of "It's disappointing" and "This is the first negative reaction I've seen."

Some people were even thanking him because his review helped them keep their expectations in check.

fair enough, i didn't get a chance to see them. I opened twitter to check out the replies but the post was already removed

My point still stands though! No one wants to be seen as insensitive so they'll take care to give their initial thoughts a positive spin. We're going to have to wait a bit longer to guage how good the movie is

who? the screenshots won't open

Who is this so I can find it on twitter?

I don't have the screen shot of his original tweet, which he took down and reposted it as the above I linked. He changed the wording to make it sound more positive and removed 'B-' from it

Just so we are clear the initial tweet by Mantz was deleted cause he gave the movie a score and broke review embargo. No one dogpiled him. You aren't allowed to grade a movie before the embargo lifts.

Imagine typing out '10 minutes too long' as actual criticism as a film critic.  Oh really? Not 9 or 11 minutes too long?  There is no such thing as being too long, only flawed and unfocused with fat.  Well, ZSJL is too long.

I fucking hate this increasingly common 'criticism' from critics.  I swear if the LOTR movies came out today these dingbats would be tweeting out shit like 'its good but about 30-45 minutes too long' in their first reactions.

Every single cbm is flawed. Flawed doesnt mean bad

This is like those people that say no movie is perfect or a masterpiece, its just pretentious and nonsensical.

Every positive reaction (which seems like 95+% of them) needs to be coupled with the fact that this movie had a shorter post-production period than almost all big budget films and was consistently interrupted by setbacks such as COVID-19.

To me, that makes the praise look even better.

Pretty sure back when I used to watch his YouTube channel eons ago, Harloff used to criticize movies for the same thing for any movie that he clearly didnt love but didnt have any criticisms to add. These guys are hacks lmao

Bad pacing in movies is a thing. I overall love long movies 2.5-3h+ and don't have problems with most of them. Still with new Batman I was feeling it in cinema and was thinking where the hell is the end of movie.
