Strange has had next to no publicity in the U.K. until this week. Certainly not the deluge we normally get for a major Marvel movie. Might take a while for the movie to really kick on, beyond the devoted that knew it was coming.

Will it be number one this weekend?

Oh yeah, comfortably.

It'll have tues-thurs added into its weekend take anyway to reach the top spot. I think it will easily win the Fri-Sun battle anyway. Word of mouth will quickly kick in.

Its only competition for number one is the second weekend of Trolls. Yet it should handily beat that everyday from Tues-Sun

Also worth nothing I don't even think many realised it was even out on Tuesday. Very strange (pardon the pun) day to open it.

Why is that strange? It's half term, this always happens. Spectre released the same day last year.

That was a major event. They hyped up it was opening to coincide with the premiere iirc.

Generally films don't open on an early day of the week unless it's a bank holiday.

Weds sometimes sure. Thursday very common now. Tuesday though? Very unusual.

in holidays it happens regularly. you're right that Thursday is very common, as is Wednesday in fact (loaaaads of films open Wed), but in holidays it's not unusual for movies to open Monday or Tuesday. Or hell, even out of holidays... our release schedule is strange. Ghostbusters released on a Monday in the summer.
