I think H&S will have a big drop in China next weekend, so it might not hit $800M.

It will need to do close to 2.4x in China to keep 800 alive IMO (unless am missing some market) which seems tough with 8.6 Maoyan score. 2.0x seems possible.

I think even if it doesn't get to 800, if it breaks $750 that would be enough for the studio to feel confident in making Hobbs & Shaw its own thing going forward... I still believe they're looking at this as the first chapter in a similar yet separate franchise, and if they can launch one off the back of Fast & Furious that starts out beating EVERYTHING in the past series but 7 and 8, they'll be happy...

Plus of course it'll allow Dwayne to rub it in Tyrese's nose on social media which is what's really important here...

I wonder why Hollywood increased only 40% on saturday. In previous weekends it was usually about 50%. Is it because College Football?

Honestly, this August has obviously stunk at the box office, but it stunk less than I thought it would. I had like 12m for Scary Stories, 15m for Good Boys, and 13m for Angel, so they all definitely exceeded expectations.

 

Next weekend is Telluride and Venice - that's when I really get re-engaged again on here. So excited!

It already had stronger than usual Friday's jump, lower Sats increase is reasonable. 

 

Normally lower Sat will be compensated by lower Sunday drop
