Interestingly, the IT Instagram account just posted a question: when will you see It Chapter Two? Matinee, Evening, Late Night. 

 

Never seen them do that before. 

 

So maybe WB are surprised by the late night drop off too.

Only know how it's in Germany, but horror movies tend to get a 11pm showing* and even the short ones would end around 1 am that way (commercials etc.)... And here cinemas never do any showings between midnight and 10 am, not even for TFA (apart from midnight previews obviously, but these year only Endgame and TLK as far as I remember got them and tLK only got really limited one in like 100 theatres or so, CM probably got some too).

 

* after 2nd weekend or so that is the only showing, kids movies get a 11am one and Live Action, Superhero etc. hang onto screens a lot longer, like TLK still gets 4-5 showing a day in the top theatres (OWend was 12-20 showings in these), obviously in small halls (100-250 seats and not the big ones 400-700 seats).

IT & Nun doubled its 17:00 reported number, IT 2 was just able to 1.5x.

 

 

36.5 od is 3.47x the previews compared to 3.73x for IT1.

 

3.47x vs 3.73x is not bad at all but the previews were well below IT1's 13.5 : 22% lower previews for a sequel, and a final chapter at that, with earlier showtimes in an increasingly frontloaded era...that's poor ☹️☹️☹️

 

That coupled with lower multiplier makes the absolute numbers look low.

Well, those early estimates never looked right. That''s more in line with the lack of hype for the movie. 

 

This is the sequel to the biggest Horror Movie of all time, of course it would also be more frontloaded than other horror movies.

200 dom needs only 2.2x with 90 ow...a little better than Nun legs.

low-90s and 2.40-2.45x gives 220-225 dom...still 100-110 under IT1.

Will this still be in the top 10 most profitable films of the year? The first film was number 5 in 2017. I think this movie could sneak in at number 10.
