I mean Ive joyed Eternals despite critics hating that one, so this won't affect my enjoyment of the movie so much as the discourse around it.

Kang is the thing people like the most about the movie so I don't really see how that's an issue.

Making 9 projects every year is what happened. This would never have gotten so bad if they just made 2-3 projects a year.

Marvel’s big kick off with phase 5 going down with a whimper. Hopefully this wakes Marvel up a bit and they try to do something different, unlikely though.

That report of Marvel being unhappy about Phase 4 and are planning to slow down did came long after this was filmed.  So yeah they´re probably aware and trying to improve but like almost half of Phase 5 is already filmed... it´s kinda to late for this phase.

too many reviewers too afraid to bite the bullet and give it a rotten. Thor: Love and Thunder for instance has no business being anywhere close to fresh and this probably follow suit

People need to calm down here; GA doesn't care much about Ant-Man; they are forced to watch this because of Kang. The good thing is they aren't messing up with big characters and big directors' movies; SC was good, SM3 was good, WF was good, and I'm pretty sure The Marvels and CA NWO will be good too.

AM3 being rotten would be a terrible blow to the MCU because it's the start of Phase 5, and the first real intro to Kang before the next Avengers.

 

They probably should have kept AM3 as another small scale adventure like the first 2 Antmen.

It already has 4 red scores on Metacritic lol Eternals had 5, Multiverse of Madness 4, Love and Thunder 3, Dark World 3, Black Widow 2.

 

It's screaming that will go rotten. But since a peak garbage like L&T didn't... who knows? Seeing this new phase starting like this is unbelievable lmao

There’s surely zero chance this film is worse than L&T ? I mean that was a largely miserable experience by Marvel’s usual standards.  I’m concerned. I haven’t seen the last trailer, but the teaser visually looked pretty second rate like the opening to MoM.

this needs to be good too. No use setting up your big bad in a movie that people don’t care about much. 
 

This is a very interesting few weeks for the MCU.

This is most likely going to end up Marvel's worst reviewed film (regardless of if it should be or not). Can't say I'm surprised... Who is this film for? The first two Ant-Man films were kind of counter-programming within the Marvel cannon, a sub-series designed for people not interested in massive CGI festivals.

 

Well, that's the route they went with this film, leaving it tonally disconnected from it's predecessors, and entirely focused on setting up two more years of storytelling at a moment where Marvel Studios is probably at it's weakest with both its core fans and general audiences in a decade.

 

I can't imagine it's a worse product than Thor 4. Still flabbergasted how that ended up "fresh".
