a2k Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Deadline was predicting 60+ with close to 40 from China. With China doing just 25, the rest looks good. Quote Industry projections for The Next Level are coming in at the $60M+ mark. About $40M of that is expected in China where star Dwayne Johnson has a solid base. https://deadline.com/2019/12/jumanji-the-next-level-dwayne-johnson-china-international-box-office-preview-1202799059/ Quote Refresh for latest…: Sony’s Jumanji: The Next Level is out in 18 early overseas release markets ahead of domestic next weekend, and in many, the movie is stepping up versus predecessor Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. Overall, the Jake Kasdan-directed sequel opened to $52.5M at the international box office, slightly down on the last film’s $54.8M (at historical rates and in like-for-likes) while also lower than where the industry saw The Next Level ahead of the weekend — the culprit here is China. There were 16 No. 1 openings for The Next Level across Europe and Asia, but rumble was lacking in the jungle in China as the film lags the previous installment with an estimated debut frame of $25.3M. https://deadline.com/2019/12/jumanji-the-next-level-opening-weekend-frozen2-china-global-international-box-office-1202803809/ 2 Quote
The Horror of Lucas Films Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 That's a really solid OW, the only place where it is underperforming so far is China, and yet, some people here are already saying it is destined to suffer a SLOP2 kind of drop, lmfao. 1 1 1 Quote

But I went looking for more information and saw that IMDB has a wrong date, and Jumanji debuts only on January 16, 2020 in Brazil. Quote
catlover Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 It's doing amazingly well in Indonesia. Without any real competition until SW9, which will take a lot of screens but is not really a huge threat, it will outgross the previous one easily. 1 1 Quote
Thanos Legion Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 (edited) Quote Already in its overseas release, Jumanji: The Next Level counts $66.8M from 18 offshore territories including China, France, Taiwan and Indonesia to name a few. Overseas according to Nancy Tartaglione, Jumanji: The Next Level is adding several majors including the UK, Germany, Spain, Russia, Japan, Korea and Mexico. Industry estimates have the pic coming in between $60M-$65M mark in the new markets. UK and Korea opened Wednesday. Last weekend’s holdovers are expected to contribute about $20M for the FSS, so the full frame should come in at $80M+ overseas. Add that to the week’s total and running foreign B.O. for the Jake Kasdan pic will stand at $146.8M OS-C 27.5 5-day OW to about 15.5 3-day seems alright. In the new markets J2 opened to about 42M in these markets it seems, just scrolling through J2 on BOM, so 60 is a nice bump. But the legs will probably be a lot worse, so 🤷♂️ Edited December 13, 2019 by Arendelle Legion 1 1 Quote

charlie Jatinder Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 (edited) So $58mn Approx in new debuts. Say they leg out 3.5x to $205mn Approx. Last weekend markets seems like will cease at around $175mn. There are markets which did $110mn for Jumanji:WTJ, say they do another $80-85mn. We are looking at $450-475mn international. Coupled with $250-275mn Domestic, that's a really great $700-750mn. Edited December 16, 2019 by Jedi Jat 4 2 1 Quote

The cast is great, they are all funny and this is easily the best movie out in December. It deserves it. Edited December 22, 2019 by VENOM 1 Quote
