Captain Falcon, Bucky, and 51 year Mahershala Ali.

Combined $300M WW on a combined $500M budget?

Gonna be brutal.

I can see Blade being the most successful one (if it's good) out of these three. Smaller budget and you don't need to have seen any prior movies.

I fear the quality got worse because they're overloaded with Disney+ shows, where creatives have a terrible feedback loop. These same creatives then work on the movies and find that the success of Disney+ shows was due to a small, but committed fanbase that will praise everything that they do.

I imagine if Dune II was released , The Marvels would be making Shazam II box office.

Probably worse.

It would have had competition and lost all those IMAX screens it originally wasn't supposed to have because Dune had exclusivity.

And I'm not even being snide here because Hollywood Accounting is such an infamous joke that, famously enough, Fox/Lucasfilm tried to claim that Return of the Jedi was never profitable

Think for a second how BOT would be reacting to a 170m film grossing 12m.  Worldwide.  Just imagine for a moment.  That's how well The Adventures of Pluto Nash did.  The Marvels may be many things, but in that league, it isn't.

I was going to say "but what about it obviously being dumped" but...that's not what happened!?!

Confronted with a possible turkey, Warners will not try to save money by quietly dumping ''Pluto'' into a few theaters before a video release. It will back the movie with a typical advertising budget (which currently averages about $30 million a release). - https://www.nytimes.com/2002/07/15/business/media-fighting-the-label-of-turkey.html

also, look at the forum love in the NYT

Quote

On the Hollywood Stock Exchange, a Web-based game in which players ''buy'' and ''sell'' stars and film properties like stocks, ''Pluto'' has traded lately at a level that suggests an expected opening weekend box-office take as high as $28 million. ''The easy answer is Eddie Murphy,'' Michael O'Rorke, vice president of the Hollywood Stock Exchange, said of the picture's strength among his gamers. ''He's a star.'

Probably the most annoying thing about this nonsense is it'll be years for the movies to come out and prove the cynics wrong, since even already people are saying "well obviously Deadpool 3 doesn't count"

The delay might be quite a problem honestly. And no Deadpool 3 doesn’t really count, it’s a comedy that parodies these movies. A whole year without a mainline entry isn’t great.

if Deadpool ends up as a true MCU movie rather than a pisstake it’ll be extremely disappointing.

The fact your relying in films years away is not a positive.

What are you talking about, why does Deadpool magically not count just because it's a comedy

Because people who think the MCU is bad and a joke right now will happily go watch DP3 mock it relentlessly. Let’s not act like this is a franchise grown by the current MCU leadership.

DP3 will not excite people for the rest of the current slate.

Deadpool doesn't count in showing the real strength of the MCU even if it makes a billion. That just shows people love Deadpool and Jackman's Wolverine. It does not then mean Thunderbolts and a Young Avengers movie with Ms Marvel, Ant Man's daughter, what's her name from Hawkeye and what's her name from Doctor Strange 2 will be hits

I barely agree with Spiderbyte on anything concerning Marvel but I think saying that Deadpool doesn't count as an MCU film because it is a comedy and a parody is ridiculous.

The best thing for it is to be the best of both. Because if it just ends up Deadpool and Wolverine in another badly edited lazy storytelling MCU movie then yeah not good.
