Folks here might know it by its alt title, MUD AND CHICKENS.

@baumer

My number one foreign film.  Mud and Chickens is a masterpiece.

How about films that are a combination of english and a foreign language like Certified Copy and Call Me By Your Name? Like what would be considered predominantly foreign language?

If there are scenes / characters that involve foreign language, that is probably not a foreign film.

If there are whole acts / 75% Plus of the runtime in a foreign language, that is probably a foreign film.

If you think it counts, put it on the list and if enough people do that to the extent it makes the top xxx, I'll make a further judgement at that point.

(e.g. For me, Lion was the kind of film I was questioning whether it could count as the first half of it is pretty much all in Indian (I say Indian because there are at least two languages being used in those acts), but then I kind of accepted that I was basically trying to find a way to shoehorn it onto my list as opposed to genuinely thinking it should qualify.

Multiple Vote Bonuses: (Total)

2 Votes - 30pts

4 votes - 36pts

6 votes - 42pts

8 votes - 50pts

10 votes - 60pts

12 votes - 72pts

Every subsequent 2 votes - 12pts

Surely this will only put the lesser-seen films at an even greater disadvantage than they're already at? Rewarding big #s of points with even more points works for summer game which is a test of knowledge but it really doesn't here, imo. It's just gonna turn this into much more of a popularity contest.

A suggestion,
Since many users would have watched limited films, you can use weight system.

Like there will be users who list 100 films as usual but some may list 10, 15 or even random numbers like 33 films.

For such lists, take the number of films listed and divide by 100. Use the ratio to weight the films ranked in list.

For instance. No. 1 film is 50 points, no. 2-5 40 points, 6-10 35 points, 11-15 30 points and so on.

And someone give 13 films. 13/100. His 1st film will have 50*13/100 = 6.5 points, 2-5 films 5.2 points and so on.

That way, a person who has watched only limited films won't be impacting the Ranking more than it should.

I see you deleted the scoring system from the OP. You gonna post an updated one?

I think my suggestion was good.

I think Jake was more referring to the other system that was in the OP which gave more weight to movies that popped on several lists.

Like in the Derby. But Jake's and my opinion is that popular movies already benefit enough from being popular and showing up on several lists, no need to give them even more scoring weight.
