Unless they age her up there's no reason to announce it because it's a little kid

All previous versions aged her up. 2 years old who speaks like an adult would require CGI and that could go over as well as this

WB should switch this and Wonka around. December is crowded with family films and WB is also releasing another musical then (like literally 5 days after Wonka). Star Wars is probably not happening, positioning this as the perfect alternative.

And it;s not that big a role anyway in Dune.

Now in Dune Messiah, and Children of Dune she is a major charecter, but it;s a pretty small role here.

Castings always announce child actors so DUNC2 won't be an exception. They didn't announce Irulan casting either. It's just assumed it's Pugh cause she was in talks but there was no official announcement like Buttler, Walken and Seydoux. They could make those announcements a part of a big Filming Started announcement this month.

Anyway, while Alia is a small role, she does a big thing so casting is important. But yes, DUNC Messiah and Children of DUNC are where she's the main character and age 15 - 28.

Good of you to miss the relevant part which was that even if they age her up like in Dune 1984 she's still going to be a little kid. Why would they announce the casting of a little kid who won't carry over into any future film most likely?

Because casting of smaller characters including child actors gets announced and Alia is an important character regardless of size of her role. She gets THE scene. Marvel announced the casting of the young actresses who played Tony's daughter and Scott's daughter in Endgame, and the latter one got replaced with another actress in Quantumania. I don't know where everyone is getting the idea that child actors and actors in small roles don't get announced cause they absolutely do.

But anyway, topic closed. Alia will be in the movie announcement or not.
