Out of the groundhog hole....

Uncharted for Thurs Feb 17 (Taken Feb 14)

Toronto Ontario (Greater Toronto Area)

61 shows

13 theatres

Total Sold 449

Total remaining Available 13878

Total seats 14236

Percentage 3.15

A smaller amount than I usually track, using Uncharted to get back slowly into the groove of things. Good to be able to do this again, and hopefully after feb 17 for theatres (which are going back to full capacity) no more restrictions on it all. Heck something approaching a normality to life will be great too :)

It seems decent so far, but the big issue is that this is including today's Valentine's Day previews, which could make it harder for this to gain much momentum in the coming days. At the very least, this will be interesting.

Hooray for a new comp. No Way Home is still arguably the best one we got and it does paint a very clear picture, though granted I'm using final counts for almost everything else. The NWH comp should decline for a couple days to account for NWH's big fan rush in its first week, but that's not anything too concerning and understandable for a big movie just starting out their presales run, so keep that in mind before going into doom and gloom.

Dog seems dead here. Cinemark doesn't have it on sale, though Cinemark presales are always weak. I also argue it's not a PS type of film. At the AMC, the 4pm on Thursday sold 1, the 7pm has 2. On Friday, the 4 has 0 but the 7 has 10.

Even though I'm losing NWH for a day, shifted over to T-x comps tonight as I think it makes more sense right now, hence the pretty hefty hit in comps.  NWH returns tomorrow, as little good as it does now.  Now let's see where it stabilizes this week as the "pre-sale lull" approaches.

Looks like the Super Bowl did in fact have an affect, as numbers jumped locally by a decent margin.  Just enough to keep the current pace though.  Roped NWH back in.  Pace against NWH will take a hit for the next couple of days, so we'll just have to see where it stabilizes at.

Not gonna happen for Wednesday. That’s why the amount of tickets available went up less than 0.3% in a week.

Never say Never. Lincoln Sq has 2 shows while the rest have 1. its possible for theaters to add another late Imax show.

Though it may not happen as already there are enough shows to build early hype. No reason to dilute the thursday.

Though it may not happen as already there are enough shows to build early hype. No reason to dilute the thursday.

I won't say that theaters are having difficulty filling Thursday thanks to all of the Tue/Wed showings, but I will say they are filling up far slower than normal.  Are starting to fill up though.

Frankly there is next to zero reason for more Wed shows with all of the good seats still available on Thursday.

Sure, a couple of theaters might add a Wed showing here or there.  I'm just saying it's not needed.  Not with the overbooking that occurred on Thursday.

(the ironic thing here is, if theaters over-reacted to a slimmer than wanted Summer/Fall when they set the initial NWH sets, looks like they over-reacted to the success of NWH when they set their  initial Batsy sets)

Up here it will be interesting to see how attendance goes for Batman. It opens on March 1, the day we drop almost all mandates here in Ontario (except masking which for whatever reason will be at a later date). No Vaccination checks, fully capacity theatres, other than masks no limits of any kind. I think that weekend will be a big one in Ontario of the freedom plus Bats movie coming out.

Tracking presales when they start (no they haven't started here in Ontario) will be interesting.

Batman tickets went on sale last Thursday here.

I did a count from about 24 theatres Sunday. We have a fan first event on Wednesday(March 3)and then the normal Thursday start, some places have tickets available up until March 10th already.
