Yeah, it expanded to 15,424 shows in 1,060 theaters for 4/8 weekend (actual 1,250 TC).  Then to 22,124 shows in 1,941 theaters the next week (actual 2,220 TC).

So bbb has 119 more tracked theaters. Doesn’t really square with a supposed 550 more overall. Perhaps actual will be 1500ish.

BBB has slightly more show/locs but pretty similar. Main issue is summer affecting the IM.

Bodies going wider than I thought (1800 locations per Numbers).  Not sure I understand the goal of holding off on some locations a week for an 8/19 opening

EDIT: Unless the info posted by Numbers is incorrect (Deadline listed planned 1200 location expansion in weekend article, which seems to mesh more with data above)

So TGM getting half the IMAX shows, but 50% more PLF as it did on the 6/24 weekend push/re-release. Dolby should do fine (as some prefer to IMAX), but wonder how much value the XD/ScreenX/etc showings will add?

Also, could be looking at a weekend where as few as 1 or 2 movies clear even $200/show (maybe up to 5, on the high end), and likely nothing above $240/$250. That's a whole lot of empty seats ...

Bigger than JJK ($18.0M) &MHA ($6.2M) OW. How are you expecting for OW?

They forgot to delay it when the show was delayed as well.

AMC's website has it listed under IMAX releases so that's probably the only weekend they would've been able to secure it for since September is already booked in terms of IMAX screens (Moonage Daydream, Jaws and Avatar re-releases).

Three Thousand Years of Longing tickets are now on sale btw.

I don't really do any forecasting for full weekends anymore.  Previews are looking good though.  JJK was 2.88m and MHA had a 2.89m OD (no previews).  Looks like it should hit at least 3m.  Perhaps a weekend similar to JJK then?

I am confused. Bodies reported 17k for Thursday. I thought it was expanding and was on target for 500k or so Thursday.

That’s just the gross from just the 6 theaters that opened it last week, not the preview number; they didn’t report that as a separate number, so will just be rolled into Friday total

Not that I think it’ll be a big deal, but I’m told tickets for the 3D Jaws re-release (I want to just say Jaws 3D but that title was already used!) will go on sale on Aug 17.

Now 8/24.
