Yea we're gonna drop all this non tracking stuff. That expressly means you, @excel1. Next post from you that isn't tracking related is a thread ban.    Anyone else continues, it's points.

Yeah, I commented about it last week.  It's really odd how they are doing it.  More EA shows than I've seen but only about 1.5 shows per theater on Thursday.  A lot of theaters are doing one show each day instead of two on Thursday.  Let me check how it's looking now since I haven't checked since Friday

To be fair, its target audience goes to bed at 8 PM sharp every night. Why bother with 10 PM showings? 🤷‍♂️

EA - 2,711 shows in 2,673 theaters

Previews - 4,239 shows in 2,765 theaters

 

Nearly all of the theaters have a show each day with half giving it a second showing on Thursday.

Inching ever closer the Bollywood model: first with the super early "preview" shows, now with EA shows mostly in PLF for the higher ticket prices, won't be surprised if soon the regular Thursday shows get an extra ticket price bump (on top of the now standard premium pricing for major releases)

Why not go by the Spectre UK model - Monday shows counted into the Opening weekend - go big or go home :)

Yeah, that’s exactly what data is showing, particularly for theaters running shorter hours during the week due to limited business and/or staffing, no incentive to stay open later for Downton-freaking-Abby at 10pm 

 

With the growth of early preview starts, DA2 is one that would benefit quite a bit, say 4P/7P, or even 6P with option to add a second at like 7P, but they stuck with 7P (though did have full run EA) 

 

Thu probably doesn’t make all that much more than Wed, maybe a $500K-1M increase (as @katnisscinnaplex tracking data also suggests)

I'm just waiting for the previews to start 6 on Wednesday + a full Thursday and the studios still asking us to believe that Friday is the opening day.

You guys over there in the states are too soft. I wish to see how you guys would react if it were like here in Brazil: every movie releasing full day on thursday, sometimes with late wednesday openings and a pre-release on the previous weekend, that can have up to 75% the amount of showtimes of the full release.
