$22 million would still be pretty crappy for Bullet Train even if it isn't under 20m, though. It's had ads on every movie for months and is a straight action movie with a big name cast.

Under 30M is awful.

We probably shouldn't discount that Bullet Train has a shot at strong legs on account that competition for the next month or so is going to be practically nonexistent. The kinds of strong holds we've been seeing in recent weeks are pretty easy to achieve when theaters have almost nothing to replace the movies with (and I doubt the various re-releases, including the Spider-Man: No Way Home one, will make much of a dent either).

Im having issues getting to Cineplex today (might be my end) and got stuff going on so I will try to get a count done for today for Bullet train, no guarantees. Also going away for weekend so if I can't get a count today yesterdays might be my last count for bullet train (which admittedly was struggling to just get to 2 percent sales for Thursdays and 1 percent for Fridays. As I said earlier, not sure if Im going to do any more counts for August for any films with stuff Ive got going on-so I may just take a break till sept and see what's around then, unless something catches my eye.

… and that movie-goers can read a release calendar and know there is no rush to see BT on OW, because it’s not going to be pushed out of theaters anytime soon. It should play a full schedule at all 10+ screen locations through at least 9/22 (7 weeks)

August this year was so dire to the point that this year may not be able to match that $471m in August 2021.  It make TSS now look like a huge value added to that August.

Bros should've never given up August 12 unless a TIFF premiere for it was considered of the utmost importance (given that they originally placed it several weeks before the fest, I doubt it was). Pretty silly move on Universal's part tbh.

Probably they want to prioritize Beast. That trailer attract 30m views after all.

Universal has proven they can juggle marketing multiple movies aimed at different demographics at the same time (they just released Jurassic World, The Black Phone, and Minions over a four week span and all of them did very well). They'll be putting out Halloween Ends and Ticket to Paradise a week apart from each other in October as well. Bros and Beast could've easily co-existed.

Why isn’t Ticket to Paradise an August release? That makes more sense than October.

There's nothing else opening around it aimed mainly towards adults over 50 and it's counterprogramming against Halloween/Black Adam. It's fine where it is.

It probably moved because Easter Sunday is also a comedy. It would make no sense to release them back to back.

FYI, this can be posted in another thread in the future. That particular column is generally a recap of old data and is not always current with actual forecasts or tracking due to its publishing time frame.

Easter Sunday was clearly sent to die. A movie called Easter Sunday (about Easter Sunday) released late in the summer? The bad reviews are confirming as much.

They're confident it can place top 3 for audience award and have insanely strong WOM/awards buzz

Universal likes to launch comedies at fests (especially SXSW) and TIFF was last remaining for Bros

They could've easily bowed it at SXSW (the movie earned its MPA rating back in April, so it's been in the can awaiting release for a while).
