Despite being a thoroughly mediocre movie (but better than The Batman), The Lost City is also the most important movie of the year. Its success is so important for so many reasons.

Really strong start for The Lost City. With good word-of-mouth and little in the way of direct competition for a while it could easily leg its way to a $100M+ total, becoming yet another win for both of its stars.

 

Also fantastic for Everything Everywhere All at Once. Go Michelle Yeoh! It would be great to see the indie marketplace get up and running again officially in this day and age where the majority of non-studio titles find themselves on streaming.
