Wish | Walt Disney Animation Studios | November 22, 2023 | Chris Pine plays a baddie DILF, new trailer has dropped, reactions are reactions

Would really like this to do well. Animation is a much needed powerful genre. It is somewhat crowded for legs though with Marvels/Trolls/Wonka etc.

200 mill budget. I’d really like to see it bring in at least that DOM prior to the Xmas rush. (1.5-1.75X elemental?)

The one month sales period is far fetched but I wonder with Marvels seeming likely to bite it and with a big Disney event on ABC this coming Sunday, if Disney will put everything into Wish marketing wise.

This is the main reason early presales annoy me. I don't think they hurt the studio's bottom line much, but people still feel the need to track them and jump to conclusions based on them.

This all the way. Why the F would there be expectation that this movie would storm out of the gate presales wise. 6 weeks to release for a original animated movie. That's the problem I have with this forum. And no that does not mean I am knocking the trackers who are just reporting the numbers. It's the reactions to the numbers from too many.

I agree with the general sentiment, but I don't think anyone with any sense has drawn any conclusions from the early pre-sale numbers from this beyond "why Disney?", have they?

Nobody expects a Disney animation to do well in pre-sales I think

I mean, you also forget how many people want to see Disney fail big enough to actually take a noticeable tumble.
