so what's the next multiverse theatrical movie of MCU?

They said Phase 4~6 would be multiverse saga, but we only saw the concept through NWH, MoM & AM3 so far. Nothing interesting on this. Far below those shining stones from Infinity saga.

In what universe Maverick is a toy commercial? Just because it has cool planes and some merch every big budget movie has doesn't mean it exists just to market toys and stuff, it's absurd take. The design is very different besides them being spectacles and blockbusters. MCU is episodic in nature, every movie is an episode of one series basically, most of them don't stand on their own and many of them exist just to market cinematic universe, toys, future crossovers and spin-off shows, they are often artistically bankrupt, look and feel the same, and have nothing to say even by the genre standards. Top Gun 2, Avatar 2 and I assume Puss 2 (didn't watch it yet) are the opposite of that, they are self-contained movies despite being sequels that stand on their own, don't market cinematic universe/crossovers, don't serve as trailers for future trailers, toys are not the main reason they exist and some of them even have something to say. If you add to that exceptional craft across the board and creative/artistic value, the difference is the world and shade you're talking about looks more than justified.

Okay.

People sure are getting their panties in a twist because people don't think a tom cruises jet movie or the movie about blue cat people is high art

There's a sizable middle ground between high art and "toy commercials" lol. Nuance, as usual, is missing here.

Yep, there's a huge difference between let's say Batman & Robin (toy commercial) and Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade (great blockbuster), even from intentions.

I don't think that's the problem with phase 4-5.
Infinity stones were properly introduced for the first time in Guardians of the Galaxy, so in the middle of phase 2. Before, they showed some items with a gem inside and just made a reference in Thor2 post credits scene. So 9 movies before we hear Infinity Stone for the first time.

Also, Thanos only hinted once at post credits scene of Avengers before Guardians.

After 8 movies from Phase 4-5, Multiverse concept has already been important in 3 of them, and in Loki. Kang already made two appearences.

The problem with Phase 4 was inconsistent quality, and this will continue in Phase 5 as well because Feige can't oversee 4 MCU movies a year; he oversees 2 movies and leaves the other 2 to directors.

I agree that one of the main problems is that there are too many MCU projects, and therefore some look a bit rushed.

But there are others issues:
- Expectations were so high after Endgame that MCU was meant to have detractors quality wise.
- COVID. Phase 4 projects had to deal with many production problems due to it.

- Lack of clear main characters.

- Needs time for new characters to grow with audience. I remember that Thor, Hulk and Captain America first movies werent precisely praised.

- After 30 movies and some series, it's dificult to continue with original and fresh ideas.

- It`s also hard to keep GA interest/awareness intact after 15 years of continued projects.

Main characters do exist, but Marvel Studios didn't reveal them in Phase 4. May be they were afraid of a possible civil war among the fandom or they wanted assumption that your favourite is the main character. Fans want their favourites to be the central characters of this saga.

After Phase 1&2 first 8 movies, Iron Man had appeared in 4 movies. Thor in 3. Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk and Hawkeye in 2. 9th movie had Captain America and Black Widow starring. Characters quickly evolved.

Meanwhile, after 8 movies phase 4&5 had just Strange in 2 movies: NWH and MOM. Wanda in a series and a movie... And that's it.

MCU is more complex now. It is not as easy to tie the story to a character.
