THE SUPER MARIO BROS MOVIE WEEKEND THREAD

Recommended Posts

This easter weekend generate more than $200m from all movies at the BO. Most importantly, this is a pure $200m weekend, unlike often time this was achieved by cheating Thursday preview into Friday's gross, such as the weekend when BP2 and DS2 opened.

And AIR provide a good-counterprogramming, >$20m from 5 days opening is the best case scenario for a mid-budget drama. I can argue that all holdovers held reasonably decent well considering there is a mega-sized opener in the running. The only pity is that DnD didn't hold better but you can't really hope for a better 2nd weekend when a movie lost all PLF screens and have that $1.5m advance screening included in the OW.

Is D&D at least gonna make 100DOM still

It's gonna be a rough ride there if it makes it...I'd lean against after this weekend, but we'll see how the upcoming movies fare and if they leave room for holdovers against Mario...

I hope the holdovers rebound big time next weekend.

Tough because of Mario's performance I see holdovers losing screens rapidly as exhibitors try to capitalise on Mario's popularity.

Already saw John Wick losing 200+ theaters on Friday.
