Multipliers!SM3: $462mIM2: $506mShrek 3: $550mAWE: $559mAiW: $597m (apparently not many movies do between 2.7 and 3.1x)DMC: $647mIM1: $670mTDK: $698mSM1: $729mShrek 2: $847mLooks like it should end up with around $600m.

Just insane that if it has TDK's multi it will hit 700. My mind is spinning.

The Raid really had quite the tumble. From 14 to almost 900 theaters and down to 48 all in 7 weeks.

Pre sales mean jackLook at it.In the end for Friday is was less 1.5 million behind New Moon and around tied with TDK. (3d + inflation I mean)

Exactly, All Pre-sales are about how hyped a certain fanbase is. What the Avengers proved is that Walk Up sales are just as if not more important than pre-sales. Wow @ 207 actual. I guess 500 Million is a Lock for sure even with summer competition it can clean up all the month of may. Think of all the people that missed it this weekend that will be seeing it this week. Amazing weekend for Avengers, truly the movie to beat this Summer.

It can if MIB3D sucks. It going to win this weekend and next weekend.

Dark Shadows and Battleship are going down. MIB3 will win the weekend in my view. Still, 3 summer weekends will be nothing to overlook. But this OW is so amazing that everything else seems to be the cherry on top. Edited by filmscholar

LOL That was a few years ago. I thought the majority of Americans would pre buy by now.

Nope. Most people still do it the old fashioned way. Only rabid fanbases have amazing pre sales, and it's mostly for midnight anyway.

$4m is still a decent gross for it -- over 4x the budget and it's already a success overseas as well.

One thing i just realized about Avengers, how great the casting was! Im glad Ed Norton didnt come back (and hes probably regretting it) because Mark Ruffalo was excellent. The way him and Hiddleston went from serious to comedic to serious was perfect, that saying, Hiddleston was perfect for Loki, many "villains" (quotations because im including Vic Simms from Paul Blart) oversell it and try to hard to look menacing, but Hiddleston did it perfectly. And of course RDJ! I felt they all did well, Colbie Smulders couldve been a little more serious at times though, but still fine performances from everyone. Great chremistry as well- Tony/Steven, IM/Thor, Banner/Tony, Loki/everyone, BW/HE, Tony/Pepper, all of them in NYC, great great job. TDKR has great casting too so itll be interesting to see the performances and chemistry in that as well.

I looove this kind of "hypothesis data".462 would be SM3-tainted and seen as a disappointing final gross.1 week ago, 462 would have been acclamed by many!Crazy perspective. Edited by Gideon

Update:Rallax sent me a text and his 5pm and 6pm sold out. THG sold 601 tickets on its first monday at his place. Avengers has already sold more than that with all of the night shows remaining. I think the minimum it hits today is 20 mill.

I`m down with Ruffalo Hulk. I neevr cared for HUlk movies but Ruffalo totally converted me. I hope he appears in IM3 because Tony/Bruce rapport is fantastic. IMO, Ruffalo is the best Banner/Hulk becausae he is extremly likable, whereas Bana and Northon are not. I`m so happy for him. Fantastic actor, loved him in Shutter Island.Hiddleston deserves to be a huge star. What a charisma, range and camera loves his face. Edited by fishnets

I'm surprised you still didn't do a "Toruce" or a "Bruny".
