JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

Recommended Posts

Great Saturday increase, I'm always cautious to estimate today number because previously I always overestimate weekdays number but 280-290k seems safe. 310k should be the target for today.

If it can reach +300k for today total then 20% drop from last weekend is possible.

Great increase for sure. This is gonna just rely on weekend and any other BO boosted days 🙂

Yup, its more weekend heavy than any another animation movie ( probably because its first 4 weekdays on non holiday periond) that makes it much harder to project it Friday-Saturday increase but at least with this weekend we already get a clue, what increase percentage it will get on Saturday. I still think if there isn't any Star Wars movie this December, it should release at least on 2nd week of December. It will get much more from Winter school holidays.

It's not an evening movie, that's all. We had already seen that last week, to a degree.

It is not an evening movie so it is understandable if the rate starts to slow down from 8pm. But here, the rate has already been slowing down so much since 4pm, 5pm until 8pm, 9pm.

(I think Saturday from 4pm to 9pm is the peak period for people to go to the theater, right?)

And in contrast, from 10am to 15pm, the rate is super strong, it needs less than 2 hours to double the Friday total gross.

It's always like that same with every weekdays and last weekend too. That's why I'm cautious about prediction from 2pm, because it can fluctuate in a big range. Also probably in Japan they like to watch animated movies in earlier time. I mean it kinda make sense with target demographic. No need to overreact.

Still only dropping 33% from last weekend, with tomorrow it will increase at least 50% on  today admission but with lower avg Tix.

The main demographic of Frozen is family, with small children. When do you think they prefer to go to the movie? 4pm to 9pm? Or 10am to 4pm, before the sun sets? Remember, you cannot generalize that for every movie. It depends on the demographic of the movie.

Surely increase, let's say using last weekend avg ticket on weekend is ¥1.335. Tomorrow avg tix is ¥1.100, only need 370k for tomorrow to match today total gross.
