JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

Recommended Posts

TFA had a partial Friday though. As far as I can see from old data given by Corpse at WOKJ, TFA started at 6.30pm on Friday, making 374 million yen that day. Plus the above mentioned 1245 million on Sat+Sun, for a total of 1.619 billion after 3 (well, almost) days.

Corpse:

Saturday Advance Ticket Sales

Advance Ticket Sales/Available Tickets [Theaters/Showings], Film
65,696/400,496 [160/1,659], Rogue One
59,430/341,668 [156/1,061], Yo-Kai Watch 3

Compared to last year, same weekend:

Advance Ticket Sales/Available Tickets [Theaters/Showings], Film
138,795/463,289 [155/1,795], Star Wars VII
116,563/320,351 [150/1,073], Yo-Kai Watch 2

Both films, as you can see, are down significantly compared to their predecessors from this same weekend last year. Last year, Yo-Kai Watch 2 winded up selling more tickets than Star Wars VII opening day and opening weekend by overcoming a 17% disadvantage in pre-sales, so it's quite possible that Yo-Kai Watch 3 will sell more tickets than Rogue One today and over the weekend with a smaller 10% pre-sales disadvantage.

I'll post hourly ticket sale updates throughout the night.

At 10PM, FB down 38% from last Friday. Pretty good. Seems like the morning impact of SW washed up a bit. Tomorrow's hold will probably be better.

Sorry to inform you its much worse. Yokai Watch opened to today. Every holdover is being wrecked

Does this mean Your Name's shot at 25 billion yen is dead? :(

No it will probably get some screens back over the next few weeks and then there's an IMAX expansion mid of January. There are no more big films left to open for quite a while.

How long is it expected to remain in theaters? Has a DVD release date been announced which may affect its run?

Update at 2140.

*1 181946 YW3

 *2 143638 R1

 *3 *80754 FB

Yokai slightly went up while R1 is slightly down. FB increased 25%. Drop is 41% from last sunday.

So R1's first Sunday is only slightly bigger than FB's last Sunday, which was it's 3rd Sunday. That goes to show what a beasts FB is.:P Also, the 40% something drop this weekend is quite good considering it faced 2 massive openers. Is any big movie opening next week? If not, I think FB has a chance to recover.

As usual, thank you very much

900m yen equals ~ US$7.63m

Does Friday not count as OW too?

As in how BOM handles it = is Friday included in BOM (I assume it is) but not in Japanese media?

Japanese weekend is only Sat-Sun.
