KFP2 was fantastic! It deserved so much more than it got.

Yeah, so disappointing that Madagascar 3 will pass it. If it was properly marketed it would have done so much better. Too bad Dreamworks/Paramount had to learn their lesson with that movie :(

There wasn't a single animated movie last year that blew anyone away. I think KFP2 was lesser comedic than the first so that could be a factor but who knows maybe if it was different, the market could have still reacted the same it did with the version that came out. We'll never know for sure but I wouldn't go as far as to say the movie was bad per se.

600m is out of reach for the Avengers. TDKR and TASM are gonna kill it. ^_^

I could see it crawling there over the summer. tdk got its 1bil ww 6 months after release, though that had a minor rerelease push to get it there.

KFP1 is charming and hilarious with a diverse array of fleshed-out charactersKFP2 is a horribly unfunny and predictable story of a fat panda with a few one liners from those formerly fleshed-out characters

My problem with it was it felt like it tried to do too much and yet accomplished so little. None of the emotional beats registered with me at all. It just kinda did its thing and ended, with nothing to take away from it.What I liked about Madagascar 3 and Puss in Boots were how focused they were compared to KFP2. Their narratives, while unoriginal perhaps, were easy to follow and included some really nice intimate moments between characters. I barely got that at all in KFP2, since the drama is mostly limited to Po's nebulous search for his parents. Edited by tribefan695

PROMETHEUS must have been affected by the NBA finals. Having said that, that's a good hold.

Its Sunday hold is better than District 9's, and its Tuesday hold is much better... thats an early sign of good legs. The squirming from the fishnets/baumer types is gonna be epic.

Still too early to tell. It's holds are actually pretty comparable to Green Lantern so far which had terrible legs. Gotta wait till the weekend to see what kind of run this thing is gonna have.

Yeah, its early, but Green Lantern just looked over the top stupid and fringe. Plus, they're totally different genres... thats sooperheero, this is R-rated scifi horror. Edited by Shpongle

I agree, Green Lantern looked like garbage and they are different genres. Still Prometheus made 3.6m midnights and fell 25% Fri-Sat. It obviously had some fans who rushed out to see just like comic book films do. It all depends on that WOM.

Definitely, Prometheus had the Alien fan rush factor whereas District 9 did not. Thats why I think the fact that its Sunday hold is better than District 9's(a film with fantastic WOM), is impressive.
