New video--5 minutes of footage, plus about 10 minutes of outtakes: video

@That One Guy @Telemachos

I get the feeling watching it that Luc is trying to recreate the magic of The Fifth Element -- there are a lot of similar elements and has a similar feel to me from what I see.

I loved the video, thanks for the link! More hyped than ever, it truly looks gorgeous.

The audience will be so shocked by these visuals, they will have to see the movie a second and third time (to figure out what is going on):

Which video game cut scene is this from?

As much shit as Lucy gets, it was received well enough by critics and audiences - 67 RT & 61 MC. Look for Valerian to get a very, very similar reception to Lucy... Maybe a few ticks above it.

I liked Lucy. Valerian is better than Lucy IMHO.

I discovered this little nugget at the end of a Deadline article:

http://deadline.com/2017/07/war-for-the-planet-of-the-apes-box-office-forecast-sumer-franchise-fatigue-1202123662/

The one title according to many that will be hurt the most by War, no matter if the threequel opens in the high $50Ms, $60Ms or $70Ms is EuropaCorp/STX’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets which follows Apes on July 21 and is vying for the same older male audience. That pic hit tracking last week with a forecast of $20M to Warner Bros.’ Dunkirk‘s $35M

As much as I hate to say it, early tracking (at least according to Deadline) doesn't look good for Valerian...

Peace,

Mike

LUCY was mostly awful, so VALERIAN is way, way better than LUCY. :P

FIFTH ELEMENT is an obvious comparison and a good one.

Is Valerian as cringey as Fifth Element?

Cause nostalgia aside I cringed alot back when I first saw Fifth Element.
