IMO, Besson's films require very little thought. They rely on emotion and spectacle, but he does put lots of layers into the spectacle. So there's thought in the creation of things, at least.

Lol, you should read what most french critics say about him, he s barealy better than Brett Ratner in their eyes ...

Sad but true.

You probably don't know the story of the premiere of the Big Blue, Le Grand Bleu, the film that made him a superstar in France, at the Cannes film festival ...

I hope this isn't just an action movie, and has a lot of thinking. (From what I read about the directors past films, they require some thought)

Lucy required thought.

Unfortunately I can only use 10% of my brain.

By the way...I want to live in a world where this movie is amazing and becomes a global box office sensation.

Unfortunately, I dont think I live in that dimension.

One of those things can still be true though.

The trailer looks visually spectacular on the big screen

Spoiler

(still a shame about the leads).

Besson has said in these new interviews that Valerian needs to do Lucy numbers to be OK.

So... $463m is the target though I expect it needs to hit the ancillaries as well so just matching it with China making up any US shortfall wouldn't be enough.

Sounds doable to me, at least OS. I even have a club regarding that in the clubs sub-section.

hmm.....so this releases on 26th July in France? Why is this releasing on 21st July in North America, again? I think their strategy is all wrong. They should release this in France and few overseas territories before releasing in North America. If the reviews and good and wom good that will help domestically.
