China Box Office Thread | Deadpool & Wolverine- July 26

Recommended Posts

It's sad, I have the feeling that in a while, no more films other than Chinese will be released there, which would mean that Endgame and Avatar will surely remain at the top of the box office for a long long long long time.

NWH, I was hoping for $250M-$450M, but now I'm "just" hoping for $200M like FFH.

Venom 2 will also have a bad run in China.

I have a question, in China already Hollywood films do not come out for long so why when there are holidays that could grow their business, do we take away all screens ? It is not logical, precisely everywhere else in the world, when there are vacations it is beneficial for films but not in China.

I dont see why you would adjust your expectations like that without a reason but ok.

Secret Superstar Indian film, did 725M, 28 days before. Was doing 14M daily numbers before CNY took it apart. Opening day was 41M.

I knew that case, but I have excluded every not HLW film. The behaviour of those foreign not American films is quite different to HLW films, way more frontloaded.

Release close to CNY? Possible piracy because being released 1 month after WW release? Covid resurgence? I think those are enough reasons to take into account to adjust the projections.

Covid is a thing for sure but other than that nah.Piracy will only hurt it if a hd version leaks , something that almost certainly wont happen t,  venom 2  took 1,5 month or so to leak in hd version. As for the close to CNY , by the time that happens, spidey will have make most of its money by then, like most movies do in china.

Read the last pages of the thread, you'll understand.

I still dont 2-3 weekends are enough for spidey to make most of its money , just check almost every hollywood movie in china, even endgame made 85% or so of its money by its 3 weekend. The only reason that may affect spidey is of course a covid resurgance something that was always known as a possibility.

Agreed.

Definitely there will be some impact but i don't think it is as much as some here are thinking.
