And yet Deadline sticks to it's own prediction of $25m as if this preview number supports that....

I know that these two movies having nothing in common and should not be compared, but it just came to me that if KING ARTHUR opens to only 2M above SMURFS 3, it's nearly certain to end up below it Dom. [SMURFS 3 is looking at around 43.5m Dom after a 13.2m OW]

 

BTW, I don't know what KING ARTHUR will open to after 1.15 in previews. I went by ~15m because of posts before this one. If it manages high-teens than it's likely to beat SMURFS 3.

That number for Snatched is fine, actually. Most of its target audience (adult women) will check it out over the weekend, especially on Mother's Day where it'll probably stay flat.

The second weekend of May really is a dumping ground for bad films which is a shame as films have thrived in that slot like Bridemaids, The Great Gatsby etc

Last heard the actual budget was much higher than the reported budget of 102.

$175m was the latest report from Deadline, with the reshoots it's not that surprising

Those movies (along with Neighbors, which also opened on the second weekend of May) were outside the action genre, which is the one that historically has it rough on this weekend.

King Arthur should do 16M and Snatched should do 18-19M.  Not a good weekend.
