I can't wait to see the results for this and Fantastic Beats in Brazil! I strongly believe this country won't disappoint me.

My hopes for Fantastic Beats in Japan are rising. WB seems to be beginning their marketing onslaught.

OMG. I am seeing it on Sunday. Gosh, I am so excited. Also, I've never seen a more massive marketing campaign than for Inferno. It will be huge here, just like DVC and AD.

Moana isn't making 300m. It has no talking animals (at least not as main characters) and it looks like a cheap knock off of Frozen. Will it beat FB though. IDK. I think both will end up prett much in the same ballpark.

Why would we only count the original run. In a world were Minions makes makes 823m OS, the fact that Dory, Pixar's greatest, can't even get to 550m is pretty pathetic.

Storks is constantly having better drops than Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. It may not be huge, but it's a nice little run to follow. OS also seems to be holding really well.

Even with the holiday, Storks is proving to have great WOM.

It still won't match Nemo OS so I wasn't wrong[emoji13]

UPDATE: The Girl on the Train looks like it will have a good opening this weekend. Presales are solid. Thinking over 30.000 admissions. Also, tickets went on sale for Inferno a few days ago, despite it opening only next week. That means theaters are expecting a big OW. And presales seem to indicate exactly that. Storks should be another hit for WB. It should finish above 250m WW on a 70m budget which is great imo. Add in home video and we might actually get a sequel, especially if the legs are good. Sully should end up around 150m DOM at this point and possibly over 300m WW. The next test for WB is The Accountant. I wonder if it will be a success.

I love you but you seem to have some bias against O'Brien. Like it or not, even if the last TMR movie registers a similar drop it will still be profitable because the budgets are half of Divergent's. And the first two movies were huge hits. Way more so than Divergent. They made 660m WW on a combined budget of 95m. That's less than Insurgent's budget LOL. My guess is the third TMR will still make over 300m WW on a sub-100m budget which will be another massive win for Fox. As for this "oh DOM is so important" you know very well that is bullshit. There is a reason why some movies get absurd budgets. If DOM was so important the wouldn't.

WEEKEND BOX-OFFICE Sorry for my absence, but the box office wasn't very interesting these past few weeks. Still, last weekend we had something out of the ordinary happening so I think it is worth to write about it: for the first time since I began writing here, the main story is a local movie. Aside from that, we had great drops for all holdovers in what was an overall good weekend. - Storks took the lead with 25.579 admissions and $123k, which is an ok opening for an original animation. It is actually a better OW than Finding Dory (22.444 adm), but a bit behind Inside Out's 29.923 adm. Both those movies had great legs. We will see if Storks will fare as good. - The Magnificent Seven had to settle for second, with 23.233 admissions and $117k. That is behind The Hateful Eight's 28.348 adm, but Seven might end up higher in the end thanks to Eight's awful legs. - And now for our main story: two weeks ago #Selfie69 opened to probably the best OW for a local movie in recent memory (25.121 adm and $127k). And this past weekend the movie continued to defy expectations, easing a light 18% to reach $268k. #Selfie69 is the sequel to #Selfie, a highly successful (by local movie standards) title, which opened with 12.648 adm on it's way to 102.026 adm back in 2014. If #Selfie69 continues to hold well it will become the first local movie to ever break the $500k border (or the $400k one for that matter). - Nerve had the biggest drop in Top 10, but that was still only -38%. Total is now a good $277k and it has a decent chance to clear $500k by the end of it's run. - Bridget Jones's Baby was down only 19% and reached 176k which is a so-so result. - Sully managed another beautiful hold (-17%) and brought it's cume to 297k. Decent for it. - Mechanic: Resurrection continues to be a huge success, easing only 23% in it's 5th weekend and reaching $719k, which is assuring it a final total above $800k. Great result. - The 8th place debut is another local flick: Câini debuted with 15.521 admissions and $31k and while that's far from the heights of #Selfie69, it is still a pretty good OW for a local title. - The Secret Life of Pets had the best hold in Top 10 (-14%) and finally passed the $1m border. Phenomenal result! - The BFG closes the Top. After falling 37% from the previous weekend it reached $222k. Still a flop. - Suicide Squad is finally out of Top 10, but it continues it's amazing run. It was down only 25% this past weekend. It already passed the $2m border and the 400.000 admissions one - the first movie this year to do so. It should end it's run with around $2.1m and 425.000 admissions. This week's releases: - Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiars - Deepwater Horizon - Julieta For now none of the titles look to overperform. Peregrine and Deepwater have a shot at 20.000 adm, with Peregrine most likely to take first place. Julieta under 10.000.

I hope the "From J.K. Rowling, the creator of Harry Potter" thing from the newest trailer will help with the hype of FB. That is, if there was anyone who did not know this takes place in the same universe.

That's an over 50% Mon-on-Mon drop for Dory. The WOM must be pretty average.

I mentioned cinematography because it was easily the best I've seen for any movie this year.

I have just seen Tarzan. Wow. What a great movie! How the hell did it end up rotten on RT?! The cinematography was just gorgeous! I have no doubt Yates will do a fantastic job with Fantastic Beats (no pun intended).

Considering that New Line produces this and New Line belongs to WB, does this mean WB will distribute?

I doubt Storks ends up in the red. OS should help it go past 200m WW and then you have home video which is always good for family movies.
