Ezen Baklattan
Give Mater a smaller role and get someone other than Lasseter to direct, and this could be salvageable.
kayumanggi
I think Pixar wants to prove for the last time that they can make a masterpiece out of this.
AniNate
It's such a fundamentally flawed concept that I just don't know how you can make a great story out of it. I get the sense Lasseter just wanted to make a movie showing off cars but was obligated to construct a cohesive kid-friendly narrative around it. Alpha
Give Mater a smaller role and get someone other than Lasseter to direct, and this could be salvageable. Actually, get rid of Mater all together, and then I'll be happy.

Ethan Hunt
You can't have a Cars movie without Mater! Mater is awesome. This is coming from someone who hates Cars 2 as much as anyone
Chinoiserie
I wonder who is the main character of this film. I hope it is the character from Cars 2 my 5 year old cousin calls Mater's girlfriend because he says that she is his favorite character. Altough he might have grown out of the franchise by the time the 3rd film comes out, this franchise is meant for so young children. Meh, maybe his 2 year old brother will be fan of this film.

kayumanggi
#Pixar shuffle. #Disney sets June 21, 2019 for #Incredibles2. #Cars3 now 6/16/17, #Coco on 11/22/17, #ToyStory4 6/15/18. — Gitesh Pandya (@giteshpandya) October 8, 2015
Jonwo
I imagine Universal and Illumination are pleased Toy Story 4 moved back a year as Cars 3 won't have an impact on DM3 as much as TS4 would have.

MovieMan89
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> UGH. Was seriously hoping beyond all reason that this would somehow get cancelled and replaced with an original after IO did so well. But it looks like it must actually be well into development if they've got it set only 2 years from now. Meanwhile, Incredibles 2 seems like they are pushing it as far back as they can almost as if to say "hey, this movie is still tentative and might not actually happen." Joy. Mojoguy
The Cars franchise, continuing to ruin Pixar's reputation since 2006.
Ezen Baklattan
If anything, Pixar has an excuse to exclusively push Coco for awards. I don't think they want another IO/TGD situation.

Now Illumination has to worry about Minions 2 going up against Toy Story 4. You know it's true.

Well we can't speak for this one yet, but I refuse to believe Cars 2 was made for anything but that. There's no way Lasseter or anyone else actually thought that plot was a story that really needed to be told.
