Eastwood47
Deadline seems to feel the movie is not getting depressed numbers. Is there really reason to worry yet or is this early concern overshooting the mark? pepsa
Deadline seems to feel the movie is not getting depressed numbers. Is there really reason to worry yet or is this early concern overshooting the mark? Here's the article... http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/amazing-spider-man-2-box-office-international-launch/ That a very optimistic article. But you are right TASM2 doesn't do that bad, normaly it won't decrease (OS, because of China) on the first one. But now it's all doom and gloom because it's fun. (Or not, but who cares?) Is there really reason to worry yet or is this early concern overshooting the mark? Here's the article... http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/amazing-spider-man-2-box-office-international-launch/ Notice how this article makes no comparison to how TASM 1 opened. these kinds of article will always call international grosses strong because they aren't comparing it to anything.
Mojoguy
Has anyone put together something like a list of countries where TASM2 has opened and the % difference between it and TASM1 so far? I thought you would be doing something like that.

I made one comparing it with CA: TWS. Current totals though, not openings. Edited April 28, 2014 by kayumanggi

zackzack
Australia, in 2 weeksTASM, $14.1mCap2, $11.5mTASM2, $10.6m Pretty much flat & even with each other with TASM2 trailing a bit. It seems to me Australian audience is getting sick of superhero movies.
baumer
Australia wasn't a good market for ASM to begin with. This drop is not surprising for that market.
Kalel009Shel
Really... some fanboys act like it's something against the character but I love Spidey! So I believe he deserves better than these Not-so-amazing movies. Amen , shoot I was so pissed off that reboot is almost batman and robin bad. I wish we could have 50mil dollars extra to tell folks to boycott.. ASM2 is horrendously bad and look at the money they spent on this POS... :'( So sad for my spidey. Kalel009Shel
No. Hey Scabab.. Oh yes its just a tiny bit better than Batman and Robin, which is fine for a 3rd tier debut hero.. Shockingly a disgrace for a Spiderman film. And shit SM3 with all its flaws makes ASM2 look like an oscar winner. Leagues better than the reboot sequel and a tad better than TASM. Hernan Gonzalez
I found a market where TASM2 opened better than TASM Turkey!!! TASM2, $1.05m, 175562 admissions TASM, $0.71m, 108455 admissions
DeeCee
Australia wasn't a good market for ASM to begin with. This drop is not surprising for that market.TASM really got clobbered by Ted more then anywhere else and now TASM2 is struggling against an average to good comedy, The Other Woman. It looks like that for both TASM's another film opening on the same weekend will end up grossing more then they will. It didn't open too bad actually, taking in ¥420,297,900 ($4.1 million) with 272,709 admissions on 761 screens. It's still down 28% compared to the first film's opening weekend, but it should have better legs with the Golden Week boost and less competition later into its run."
