I was sort of turned off by the first stills of Depp as Whitey Bulger;I though they made Whitey way too bizarre,almost like something out of vampire movie, and thought, "GOd No, Johnnty Depp is doing his wierdo shtick again" but the later trailers,stills,and early reviews have restored my faith that this Depp getting back to doing something he had not done for a while:some serious acting rather then sthick..

Uh, it's nine reviews in and like five of them didn't even give scores. The biggest raves have been from the trades, who don't give scores. If Variety, Screen Daily, and Wrap all scored it like 8.5/10, and THR gave it a 4/5, the average rating would be damn good.

Not saying it will be #1, but that it will beat expectations. I'm with your Avatar here. I'm hoping Scorch Trials is a good movie that beats the Sept. record and has good legs.

I'd say considering all the raves for his performance, Depp has a very good chance of getting a Best Actor nom, but that field's pretty crowded this year (Redmayne, DiCaprio and Fassbender are shoe-ins, Caine and Cheadle have great chances as well). If the film ends up being a hit and WB can successfully campaign it, chances are he'll make it in.

 

One things for sure, it'll get a Makeup nod.

Pirates we knew he was going to continue those, he loves the character, he made it iconic so I don't see him stop doing those anytime soon.
