You know Cameron is the king of action movies, but my fav scenes in his action films are always those little sweet moments, like "I came across time for you, Sarah" and the ending with the boy taking the picture that John gave Kyle Reese in T1, "Of all the would-be fathers who came and went over the years, this thing, this machine, was the only one who measured up." in T2, the "I see you" ending in Avatar.

 

Spectacle might drag you into the theaters but it's always the emotional connection that strikes you the deepest.

Again, waiting til I see the attractions. Disney hasn't really used a new innovative ride system in over a decade. Universals last 2 rides are one of a kind in the themepark world.

 

People forget Disney was offered Potter but only was willing to spend 80 -100m.... Universal turned around and spend over 300m and the expansion of Diagon Alley alone was 500m. California Adventure as a whole thempark in 2001 cost 600m.

and that's the reason why Diagon Alley is so cool!

Yeah I was hoping the "Human" element was now over with Jake being one of them.  I was hoping the sequels was them fighting new alien races coming to Pandora.   But I guess it's naive to think there will be no "Human" element.

I agree..I liked Avatar very much actually..but Cameron could make new projects..maybe something else on the same grand scale of Titanic..I could truly imagine him making another disaster/true life event movie..but instead he's "wasting" his efforts into a whole new trilogy of a movie which story arch finished anyway..I mean what's gonna happen now? Jake and his wife are gonna have marriage issues lol? and Quaritch's long lost twin brother is gonna want revenge..I can see this dragging already..hope I'm wrong though and the movies deliver

He's said from the very beginning he's had a whole story to tell and he didn't know how many movies it would take to tell it. This isn't him making stuff up as he goes. He planned this for over a decade, the story arc is most certainly not finished.

Didn't say it sucked. But the writing division of the Academy (who you think would know a thing or two about screenplays) obviously didn't think much of it. In the last 50 years, only Sound of Music and Titanic have won best picture without even being nominated for screenplay. Cameron's last two movies succeeded in spite of his writing, not because of it. Case closed.
