So what was the deal with The Muppets having some sort of liberal political slant/agenda? MSNBC spent a ton of time talking about the villain being some evil "big oil" guy and this big discussion was a response to some comment on Fox News? The odd thing was the original comment on Fox couldn't have taken 1/10th of the time this long discussion on MNSBC did. Who the heck wants politics with the Muppets? I haven't seen the movie (just can't get past the wrong voices), so I have no clue what's going on. But if you have Fox saying it's biased and that's bad and MSNBC says it's biased and that's great, I can see why the pool of moviegoers is smaller.

The 24 hour news cycle creates faux-controversy everywhere. They need stories to eat up air time.

Awful, I mean I already said no one would watch these but the holdovers were pathetic. Hugo and Descendants don't increase and everything else dropped soft but not as soft as would be expected when no one sees the openers.Thing is, I can't see the films-to-come not doing well because January looks so awful.

There's still hope in humanity New Years Eve didn't do jack squat however that may end if Alvin 3 does well which I have a bad feeling it will.

Completely different. It's made for kids and kids are wired differently than adults. What they like has nothing to do with the rest of us.

No, it doesn't mean any of that. It just means that little kids find different things funny than do adults. Who'da thunkit? Crazy concept, I know.Kids like silly faces, slapstick humor, fart jokes, a character doing something goofy looking, etc. They aren't looking for the same things we do in films. Hell, even in films like Shrek the kids laughed at different parts than the parents/adults did. They laughed at Donkey falling down or Shrek getting kicked in the twig & berries. We laughed at the hidden humor.Doesn't mean kids are stupid if they like films like Alvin. It means that they are KIDS.

And they'll regret it when they're grown up. There are certain things from your childhood that you still cherish when you're an adult (i.e. The Lion King or Toy Story), and there are others that you will want to purge from your memory (like the live action Chipmunks or the Pokemon movies/tv show). I'd prefer if they were exposed to more movies they'll still like when they're adults.

Alvin and the Chipmunks have been around since the 50's. When I was a kid in the 80's there was a Saturday Morning cartoon. Even as a kid I knew they sucked. And the movies are just lazy. Singing Poker Face with a high squeaky voice is not clever or cute. It's just annoying.
