Wednesday Numbers. THE AMAZING YOU NEED TO GO AND SEE OTHER WOMAN- 1.2M, TASM2- 4.1M

Harsher Wednesday drop than the past several Summer starters. But none of them had anywhere close to that sort of boost on Tuesday. Comparison points are difficult.

The trailer report from THR is interesting. 3 movies have 2 of their trailers in the "most watched trailers of the week". 2 of them should be no surprise - Godzilla and DOFP. The 3rd movie on the list is surprising with 3.5M views for the "new" trailer, and a humongous 47.8M views cumulative - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/trailer-report-godzilla-tmnt-x-702360

Godzilla’s new international trailer led the table with 5.1 million YouTube views in its first week according to technology firm Zefr, which tracks the numbers.

In the fifth spot was Godzilla’s extended look trailerwith 1.2 million views. It has racked up a total of 9.6 million YouTube views since its release on April 6.

These Godzilla trailers have been killer so far. The new international trailer is great because it gives a pretty good shot of the other monster. Yes folks,Godzilla is giving us at least two monsters and its they go toe-to-toe (or maybe snout to beak?) in the film (and the trailer makes clear that battle includes immense amounts of destruction. These trailers have not been short of the destruction porn, no siree). Plus, the previews have done a great job at describing the movie’s underlying theme (“the arrogance of man is thinking nature is in our control and not the other way around"). Godzilla has had one of the best executed trailer campaigns of any summer movie.

In the second spot was the new TMNT trailer with 3.2 million YouTube views. The firstTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer was in the eighth spot with 891,474 views for a cumulative total of 47.8 million views since its March 27 release (making it one of the two or three best performing summer trailers. THR will have a cumulative summer top ten Memorial Day weekend).

TMNT has been the summer trailer surprise, holding its own against higher profile comic book releases like X-Men and Spider-Man. And the first trailer has proven to be more than a one-week curiosity, making regular appearance in the top ten in the six weeks since its first release.

With a hell of a lot of trailer views, good social media chatter around it, and according to reports over half a billion dollars in merchandise sold in 2013, TMNT looks like it will have a big opening weekend at the very least in August.

It's 78% monday drop is highest too though. so the tue bump means a little less.

xow's 74.4% drop is next highest for marvel may openers imo.

That sounds like a plan. You buy already?

I will as soon as I get confirmation from a bud. He's trying to get off from work early.

ONE WEEK FROM NOW.

you know what's more important.

Yup. The only reason I'm going opening day to see Godzilla in IMAX.

TASM2 is basically playing like an animated movie - with smaller drops and smaller increases. Looks like it is being supported mainly by the family audience.

True. It's a different run.

I'm not saying that to try and spin this positive. I'm saying that it's more difficult to predict how it's going to progress because it's behaving differently.

TASM2 is this close to being overtaken by Neighbors in advance ticket sales at Movietickets (to be expected as Neighbors opens today)

1. TASM2 - 28%

2. Neighbors - 27%

3. Godzilla - 8%

4. Mom's Night Out - 7%

5. The Other Woman - 4%

TASM2 is about 27m ahead of THOR at this point, with dailies almost identical. Assuming similar legs, that means it finishes around 210m.

And no PR spin in the world can paint that scenario as a US Domestic win.

TASM2 finishing neck/neck with Thor2.....I mean who saw that coming?

I actually expected Thor 2 to outgross TASM2 last Fall. Just saying. I had it at 270M or so in the Winter Game. I always had TASM2 under or flat with TASM1.
