Worst thing about Chapek's meeting with DeSantis, is it actully raised De Santis state in the GOP since he could brag about how he stood up to "Liberal Hollywood".

DeSantis is a total ass hat, and IMHO if Trump does not run or is indicted, he is a heavy favorite to get the GOP nod, God help us.

Im not your ally Brian

Just $100M in "kids entertainment" (whatever their definition of "kids entertainment" is, certainly it involves ugly undertones) when Disney spends literally billions each year in content? And from the people who are eager to call Disney and their other detractors "groomers" even though there's plenty projection to go around as plenty of people in their party who have been faced with allegations of being inappropriate with minors?

Congrats to Gina Carano for falling from the ultimate family-friendly streaming service to one that'll die an even quicker death than Quibi (remember them?) did.

Also gonna go out on a hunch and predict that Disney World resort duty manager going on about a "silent majority" supporting the bill (whatever helps him sleep at night) who is also planning to run for Congress as a Republican probably won't be double-dipping for much longer.

I don't see Ron as ready for primetime. I don't know who gets it, maybe Mike Pence? Ron has never been challenged.

Biden showed in 2020 that you don't have to be the least bit charismatic or even bother to do much campaigning.  If the incumbent is unpopular, you can stay home (which Biden did...the campaign was one lid called after another) and still win.

If the inflation hasn't abated or we are in a recession, DeSantis or Trump will win.

Pence is a non-factor.  Won't even sniff the GOP nomination.

The American economy is utterly roaring. Heading into midterms with 3% or less unemployment and record stock markets, home values, etc is going to be an epic win for Biden. He barely out of year 1 which is always notoriously negative.

Huh? I think a lot of people's position would be that sexuality be generally kept out of k-3, and that would include straight people, i.e. teachers do not need to be talking about their partners to a 2nd grader, period. If a 3rd graders partner comes by, there is no need to do something overtly affectionate.

Lets face it, Disney probably regrets going against this bill. They never planned to go against it until they were bullied into it by a small but loud mob. They should have taken a lesson from Netflix and Spotify. They showed just how quick the mob get bored when they are met with a no and just like that they moved onto other things.

Now they've changed their mind I can see exactly where DeSantis is coming from. This is the company that ass licks China despite their major humanitarian issues because they want that Chinese box office money. Disney need to stay in their lane. They are in no position to lecture anyone

You do the New York Post is owned by Rupert Murdoch, has a very heavy right wing bias.

It is basically Fox News in Print and to be mistrusted accordingly.

This is quite amusing considering most sources posted here come from Twitter with heavy left wing bias. Atleast there was actually news in his link rather than just opinions.

Sorry, but with this issue there is no middle option. You either beleive that the LGBT community are entitled to the same rights as any American, or they need to be discriminated against and treated as second class citizens.

It is one or the other.

And remember that old saying that the hottest place in hell is reserved ro those, who in time of great moral crisis, refuse to take a position.

Anybody who not see this bill is just the first step toward stripping the LBGT communiry of their rights is living in another realtiy.

You love your hyperbole dont you. So if we take the middle ground, we are going to hell? Well its a good job im an atheist then

Hard to think of how Chapek could have handled this worse. He made himself look like a weak leader with no control over his staff, opened the floodgates for more people at Disney to speak out against the company, and put himself in the political crossfire.

Competition has to start somewhere. If they gain traction, they could seriously eat into Disney’s family audience. This is how Disney themselves started out. It’s not one company, but Disney losing their image as a family friendly company. But that isn’t Disney’s biggest issue. Threats like these are:

I'm sure Mickey Mouse is shaking in his boots over potential competition from Ben Shapiro. Except he isn't. The only success Shapiro's "kids entertainment" plan (if he even follows through with it, knowing what cheapskates these people are) would enjoy is the lifetime's worth of material they would be giving SNL.

They should be more worried about their lobbying efforts to keep the legalization of gambling out of Florida. They can’t have it both ways. Either they are an activist company who serves half the country or they are this family friendly entertainment company that does not make R rated films because that would ruin their image. Either is fine, but they can’t be both. And the legalization of gambling in Florida is a bigger threat than Ben Shapiro ever will be.

And there you have it. No adult in their right mind would've thought that a giant media company wasn't giving money to republicans that back hateful bills. I remember when FX released Pose and its sister channel (under Rupert Murdoch) Fox News ran some heinous pieces about the trans people that very week. Nobody is really that bothered by the political dealings of the entertainment company. They just want the entertainment.

Chapek's mistake was the initial statement. He should've been silent and let it blow over.

I disagree. Inflation might kill the Democrats in November...and I am not happy about that.

He was wrong for quitting. Fuck the idiot parents. You should have stood up to those dumbasses.

Not only that. He should also give the kids hormone blockers. That would show the parents not to fuck with badass public school teachers!!!
