The drama at marvel offices right now is definitely more entertaining than the movies there putting out.

Everyone's talking about how Marvel is screwed, and they certainly are, but (Disney-owned) Searchlight is also super-screwed. They just dated Magazine Dreams, a movie they likely paid a ton of money for, assuming it was at least a Best Actor lock. Having seen the movie, it's.... gonna be a hard one to sell to the public now. Not going to spoil anything, but there are scenes in the movie that will be hard for audiences to watch after what has potentially unfolded in reality.

The realistic option is Marvel carrying on with a new actor for Kang, trying to recoup what they can from their announced slate, and then trying to win back people with the Fantastic Four and X-Men after Secret Wars. Worst case scenario, maybe Kang Dynasty gets reworked to be an Age of Ultron-style capper for The Multiverse Saga and Secret Wars gets shelved in order to preserve that storyline for the next saga after this.

They need to either dump that on Hulu, or if they have to give it a theatrical release, bury it in the following January.

Theatrical is probably a mandatory part of the deal they made acquiring it out of Sundance, so Hulu's not seeming like an option. The latter seems like the probable alternative, although maybe they'll just keep it where it is and drop it quick like they did with Empire of Light.

this yrs sdcc and d23 gonna be fun to watch ! announcing kang dynasty nd secret wars looks like a mistake !! that helped for good pr during the thor 4 crash but in long time it's gonna haunt them ! if they gonna reshoot then loki s2 maybe pushed back 2 2024 ! ironheart or echo can take it's place ! they should push back the digital rls of ant man 3 if possible and reshoot all the kang stuff in ant man and loki s1 ! expensive yes but can be the best option if they gonna continue kangs story !

Well this is not Feiges fault in any way. This is on Majors.

 

I mean I really don't think Marvels really over the barrel with Majors. They've recast characters with no fanfare before, and Kang specifically they could very easily have just show up with an entirely new actor playing him with no issue at all.

 

"Reshooting his scenes in ant man for the home release" is not going to happen. Straight up lunacy. That'd cost tens of millions of dollars and they'd only have maybe two months to do it. They might reshoot his scenes in Loki depending on how extensive his physical presence is. They absolutely aren't going to reshoot scenes from the first season over it because that's not how anything works.

Searchlight still has Poor Things, which hasn't been dated yet but has been done for a while, so wouldn't be surprised if it ends up taking that December date unless they launch it in limited on Thanksgiving weekend ala Lanthimos' The Favourite.

Honestly if you're going to have a big scandal with Majors, if you're at Marvel you're glad it's happening now and not like a week before Loki 2 or while he's already begun filming something else. Ezra Miller is the lead of Flash so it was way too late to recast or reshoot them, but it would probably not be too hard to move stuff around to recast Majors if needed, with minimal delays if any. They could easily just swap him between projects like Terrence Howard or William Hurt with no fanfare.

Totally wrong. We would know if he had a history of legal issues/violence within the last 10-15 years. He doesn't. If he has shady character, it hasn't reached law enforcement yet which is a pretty large indicator.

Oh dang, I did not know he had more episodes of Loki coming (I haven't been following that series). I wonder if Disney will try to change the episodes somehow now.

Oh yeah, Loki is gonna be pacing the path directly to Kang Dynasty. Unclear as to how much Majors actually appears in the series, so it may be possible to replace him.

If it's true that they have statements from the woman clarifying and that the footage does exculpate him there shouldn't be any problems long term.
