TwoMisfits
Honest question... Is Disney marketing this movie everywhere that I don't look? I can't escape Aladdin advertising but I have literally seen no trailers (on any of the 3 kids movies I've seen this year - Kid Who Would Be King, Lego 2, and Ralph - and Ralph was a dang Disney movie), no tv commercials, no online ads directed at me (even though I've bought all these kid tickets online), etc... Is this like their forgotten movie this year?

Is this like their forgotten movie this year? I’ve seen plenty TV spots, and tracking is really solid, they must be doing their job right making families / children’s know about it. Also premiere is today, apparently social media embargo drops rights after, marketing should be strong after premiere.
JohnnyGossamer
The Mouse House seems quietly confident in this one.

I only point out...I'm a mom getting nothing...and I've gotten tons for Captain Marvel, and Ralph, and already for Aladdin and Toy Story 4...but I'm not getting any info for Dumbo anywhere...I just went back on this thread to watch the latest trailer for the 1st time... I'm worried Disney has just assumed this will do well, and that's never a great strategy...especially when boxed in by 2 possible big weekend performers... Although if they are using their corporate platforms, I'd miss the advertising, since I don't follow most of those (like ESPN, Disney channel, ABC, etc)...so if you are seeing advertising, maybe I've just been wildly unlucky... They’re using Disney Channel haha But don’t worry, marketing always become aggressive close to release date. Also, they send Dumbo trailer with Captain Marvel 2D copies for cinemas, so a lot of people is probably watching considering how big CM was.
CaptainJackSparrow
My only complaint so far is that I am not sensing the “feeling” of the orignals weirdness. And I should be, since Tim Burton is directing. I wish Disney was not taking this into a much more realistic movie, just like they did with Jungle Book. Disney is now promoting it at theaters now that Captain Marvel has passed so I imagine marketing is about to ramp up to 11 between now and the 29th.
CaptainJackSparrow
When should the premiere end/frost reactions come in?
JohnnyGossamer
Disney seems pretty confident. Thinking reactions will be at least generally positive and thinking OW DOM will come in around $75M.
Durden
#Dumbo has a blessedly surprising pro-animal rights agenda wrapped in a subtle, rebellious meta-commentary on a band of outsiders shaking up a corporate establishment. Its aesthetic design is dazzling, gorgeous & meticulous. The CG elephant is absolutely adorable. pic.twitter.com/hN0gjHUiv4— Courtney Howard (@Lulamaybelle) 12 de março de 2019 Our reporter @minkus saw #Dumbo. “It’s absolutely wonderful - a beautiful story, quite different than the original, that won’t leave a dry eye in the theater. The cast is kismet together on screen. It’s one of Tim Burton’s best in a long time.” Full review on the 26th. pic.twitter.com/1VvhDU9dbl— Attractions Magazine (@Attractions) 12 de março de 2019 I wasn't sure what to expect, but I can say that #Dumbo is a genuinely heartwarming, entertaining movie that is definitely worth your time. The cast is enjoyable but the VFX Dumbo is so damn expressive that he steals the show everytime he's onscreen.— Nick Kazden (@ricknazden) 12 de março de 2019 I enjoyed #Dumbo. Fantastic art/production design, a surprising/necessary pro-animal rights message. One of the best live action films Burton has directed in years. Unlike most Disney adaptations, its in the unique position to be 35% an adaptation and 65% a sequel, which is cool. pic.twitter.com/Yqzbl7uY3Q— Peter Sciretta (@slashfilm) 12 de março de 2019

John Marston
Reactions seem somewhat unetnthusastic. I’m worried. You better not let me down Burton.
