rjones1325
Quote With outstanding performances by Garfield and Ogata and powerful direction by one of the best auteurs in Hollywood, Martin Scorsese's Silence is a beautifully poignant epic masterpiece that perfectly depicts the importance of religion and how far you’ll go to maintain your beliefs. In 1990, Martin Scorsese has a passionate idea of an American adaptation of the Shūsaku Endō's novel, of the same name. For the past 30 years, this film has been through numerous feats of development hell from casting changes to lawsuits. Thankfully after directing one of my favorite films, Hugo, he dove right back into working on his third and arguably the most powerful faith-based film to date. http://www.rendyreviews.com/movies//silence-review

Valonqar
Garfield is in for Hacksaw Ridge. This may be the first movie since The Machinist where actors losing tons of weight didn't get a nomination. Hollywood usually goes ga-ga for that gimmick. All about Eve
I saw this last week at a preview. I'm a big Scorsese fan and it will find its audience, especially if it goes for the Christian faith groups but it's going to be an acquired taste. Joel M
I wonder if this can be bigger than the average awards type drama in Japan because of the setting.
Goffe
I know it's apple to oranges, but The Wolverine made less than Origins in Japan despite 3d and the fact Origins made very little there, so I doubt the setting will play any part on the movie's gross Edited December 21, 2016 by Goffe
