My hope is that she is a fan of the comic, so she has a solid foundation in the world.  Comics fans are some of the harshest when you "miss" the reason the comic characters are popular...

Her first tweet since the announcement was a tribute to Jack Kirby, so I think she is familiar with the material....

I doubt Oprah would want to play Granny Goodness, since she is just about the most evil, despicable character in the DC Universe...

Didn't WB try to get her to play Waller?

Ava DuVernay To Direct Jack Kirby Comic Creation ‘The New Gods’ For Warner Bros, DC

We have been discussing it for about the last page and a half.

Did you even bother to check the last couple of pages to see if the news has been posted?

That is common internet courtesy to keep a thread from being drowned in redundant posts of the same news.

Good god, my mom went full woke over this.

"Sorry, Oprah and company. Just as I decided not to read the publisher's money grab of a book, "Go Set A Watchman", which would have changed the whole meaning of "To Kill A Mockingbird", long a favorite of mine, I have decided not to see the film adaptation of "A Wrinkle In Time". No twins, no Ixchel, no Aunt Beast?!! No love from Mrs. Whatsit?! Sorry, if you are going to embark on the the challenge of bringing this book to the screen, then you need to include ALL of the beloved elements."

After watching this tonight I really wish it were doing better. It's a beautiful film. A little hokey at times due to some of the dialogue but mostly a genuinely moving fantasy scifi picture with a lot of heart and a nice dose of visual ingenuity. For me it's better than Black Panther.

LMAO what!? the movie was incomprehensible at times. I like Ava, and thoroughly enjoyed selma and 13th. But, this film was not well constructed at all. Film is subjective though and I value your opinion. I hope the majority of people enjoyed it as much as you because I don't want it to fail at the box office.

Scientifically it's a bit incomprehensible, but I didn't think it was trying to explain all that. It was more science fantasy than science fiction.

I'm also a bit of a hippie when it comes to the big origin/universe questions, so it still resonated with me despite the hokey dialogue.
