They don't own them though. Millennium funds the movie and own the rights. Lionsgate is just a US and UK distributor for the movie, because they bought those rights.

Divergent's performance is actually kind of a miracle considering how awful every other non-THG YA adaptation has done lately.

Also, I'm kind of surprised by how frontloaded Let's Be Cops has ended up being. It's doing alright overall though considering the toxic reviews and zero starpower.

Maze Runner is next in line for ultimate bombage.

Well they spent like 40 million for the rights to US and UK. Then all the movie to market it. If this movie opens at 18 million, it will be lucky to make 50 million. So they will lose a decent amount of money.  The producers likely already made the budget back in presales, so they won't lose on this. But the distributors won't be happy and won't draw much interest for Expendables 4 anytime soon. Or the terrible spin-off they wanna do Expendabellas.

With only 100k between TMNT and Guardians yesterday... I wonder what the possibility is of them flipping for #1.

 

GOTG back at number 1 would hurt a lot of people in the BSG. Thankfully, I abstained the question.

Let’s Be Cops has been waning since its front-loaded start of $5.2M Wednesday opening. As I previously reported it’s been dogged by critics (Rotten Tomatoes has it at about 9%) and by that B CinemaScore which doesn’t bode well for word of mouth. Maybe $4.5M today for a three-day gross of around $12M to $13M at the moment; that would give it a five-day of mmmaybe $20M.

Thanks, Rth! So for TMNT that's a 51-74% bump and GOTG its a 42-65% increase. And not very good for EX3.

 

Since it is only a bit past 7pm EST (so there is still a lot of business to be done there, let alone the rest of the country) do you think they have a solid chance of increasing?
