This is somewhat of an important weekend just for the sake of Gone Girl's strong hold in its 2nd weekend....to let the movie industry know that we could use a lot more adult dramas on the annual schedule with budgets of 50-60 million dollars.  And to prove that audiences do want them.  The industry seems to be too enamored with tentpoles aimed at kids/teenagers with budgets of 100 million...aside from the small number of Oscar bait indie dramas with budgets of 20 million.  There aren't enough mainstream studio movies in the calendar year aimed at people over 25 years old.

October is pretty strong.. Gone Girl could stablize and leg its way to $150 million DOM. Annabelle is looking at $75-85 million DOM. Dracula could actually get past $50 million with that OW. Alexander should get $90-95 million from that OW due to lack of competition.

 

Fury and Ouija could both go past $25 million+ easily (expecting both to get past $30 million actually) while The Best of Me should get high teens/low 20s next week.

 

Really hoping the goodwill lasts to November-December, where there's 13 releases potentially gunning for $100 million+ DOM grosses

Decent early numbers. Aside from Dracula none of the films seemed to have especially high budgets.

 

Dracula's budget was $70 million, the Judge's was $50 million.

Saw Dracula and really enjoyed it. The room was packed with people so I'm glad to see that it might be doing well.

As an adult, it was perfectly fine, possibly even pleasant.
