Image result for aliens ripley

My Alien Marathon is in full effect:

Mon - Alien

Tues - Aliens

Wed - Alien 3 (Today)

Thurs - Prometheus (Alien: Covenant Prelude - didn't watch it yet)

Previews - Covenant

(Sorry AVP need not apply.  I just view "Resurrection" as some type of cryo-sleep nightmare, lol.  No need to watch it.)

I DID THIS THING LITERALLY THE WEEKEND BEFORE MY PRESS SCREENING BEFORE THE FILM

I jotted all my thoughts on the franchise here, but yeah it was such a a great franchise that just drastically got worse after the second film.

Alien was boring. I have fallen asleep every time I've tried to watch it.

Other way around for me, never achieved to finish Aliens, exposition/dialogue are just too much, Alien one of my favorite watch ever.

Hm...But the first half of Alien is nothing but exposition.

Yes and really well done (there is dialogue too in Alien), I love exposition like everyone when it is well made.

Lets face it. Story wise this movie is better than the original. Now given the fact its impossible to actually be scared in a movie nowadays id say that makes covenant the better movie. Back 40 years ago it was easy to please audiences.

ORO?!

Alien is such an accidental masterpiece it boggles the mind.

The giant making-of on the Blu-Ray tells the tale of the creation of the film and boy, so many random events that perfectly glued together.

I know you can somewhat say this about every great movie but Alien is a great illustration of that idea.

And Ridley Scott s career gives even more credence to this point.

On the contrary, Aliens is a thought-out masterpiece, conceived and crafted from A to Z by a Superior being :

the Engineer.

:shades:

Accidental??? RIDLEY WAS GENIOUS.......

Revisited Alien and Aliens last night. Alien is such a masterclass in atmosphere. So many iconic shots in the third act when all the lights and strobes are going off. And can't ask for much more in an action blockbuster then Aliens. So many other big films have followed that template.

Aliens did make the creatures a lot less threatening though. I hope this entry of the series is a true return to it's horror roots.

Also not sure if it's been posted but did you guys see Covenant has a 91% RT rating with top critics. (7.4/10)

That's pretty awesome. Going in with the same expectations but hope I enjoy it.

So this is getting pretty bad grades from audiences on french biggest movie website Allociné, 8 days into its release.

Pleasing franchise films generally do really well there :

Guardians Vol.2 :     4,3/5

Fast & Furious 8 :     4,2/5

Beauty & the Beast : 4,2/5

Alien Convenant has a 3,1/5

Just Sayin'...
