stripe
I think we can look at ROTK internal 5day (exactly the same days) it made 34,4M (8M midnights) / 17M / 21.8M / 27.5M / 23.3M Another possible example to follow is Anchorman2. It opened on a Wednesday during the same week. Lower results but it's interesting to see closer examples. It made 8.1M (after a 2.3M previews) / 5.1M / 8.7M / 9.6M / 7.9M
JJ-8
100M+ 5 Day would be a bit difficult. Towers did 100m off a 26m OD
miketheavenger
making less than DOS would be disappointing I agree, but $250m would still be a nice milestone. I do still think it will increase from DOS though.

Lordmandeep
After the ASM scandal cineplex in Canada no longer gives cheap tickets to films that open on Tuesday.
keysersoze123
its very good but one point to note is this opened earlier compared to DOS midnight opening plus it was discount tuesday as baumer said. So let us wait for OD numbers before popping the champagne. That being said it would be surprising if it finishes below DOS with this preview number. I do still think it will increase from DOS though. same 250 would be a bit disappointing but a nice round number (even if lower than DoS)

MonstersandRoy
How many theaters did it open on at 7pm on the Tuesday? Article say's it expands to full allocation today. Did the other film's also open at 7pm on the day before official release date or midnight? Edited December 17, 2014 by MonstersandRoy
Elessar
I think 30m is out of question. DOS did 22m for the day but that was friday. Wednesday will have much lower evening attendance. My guess is around 15m.
Lordmandeep
Furthermore even if some theaters offered cheap Tuesday there were fat far fewer screening s on Tuesday night compared to past hobbit films. My theater had no tuesday showing unlike past films which had early show.
