It's a movie based on a huge bestseller about one man who represents the triumph of the human spirit over adversity, and is about the power of redemption. Plus it's just an amazing story as well. Why would you think its appeal is restricted to diehard Christians?

Of course it s not ONLY the christians folks but the fact that the movie is overperforming shows that the christians definitely helped.

I am not the person who wrote an entire article on Deadline saying that Exodus received a terrible reception among christians and that Unbroken received unanimous praise from the same crowd.

A crowd whose specificity is that they don t give a flying fuck about reviews, see The Blind Side and Passion of the Christ.

Hmm yeah no. UK is really cynical about these type of movies. Maybe having a mostly British cast helps a bit though...

Unbroken will do quite well in the UK.

Also most people here won't even realise the main character is British, not like we would care anyways.

It should do alright in the UK, although I can't recall a similar film that broke out here in recent memory. The person it's based on certainly isn't well-known round these parts.
