How HV sales used to turn big box office hits into massive box office GIANTS

Recommended Posts

By the way, I've kept a monthly chart of most franchise and standalone blockbuster movies going back to September 2015 to see how these movies grow in terms of $ (rounded to the million $) even when they are not making the top 30.  If you guys have any questions about trends, growth and sequel bumps effect, don't hesitate to ask.

With what I've learned about Disney's deal with netflix, and with the observation that Zootopia's DVD sales are sinking right now on amazon's rankings,

Spoke too soon. Angry Bird's DVD is now selling less on Amazon than Zootopia's, even after the Netflix announcement.

It will end up close to The Lego Movie when all is said and done.  It will sell many more units though.

I was thinking Independence Day holiday effect, but that didn't happen last year, although 2014 had some increases...  Hard to tell for sure.

SW, Zoo and DP holding well.  KFP 3 is irrelevant on HV,  can't believe they are planning 3 more...

‘Captain America’ Conquers DVD, Blu-ray Disc Sales Charts

The third "Captain America" film and the 13th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe rode its $408.1 million take at the domestic box office to a No. 1 debut on both the NPD VideoScan First Alert sales chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart.

Warner's The Conjuring 2 debuted at a distant No. 2 on First Alert, with the horror sequel selling 10% as many copies overall as Captain America: Civil War.

Walt Disney's live-action The Jungle Book remake, which had been in the top of both charts the previous two weeks, dropped to No. 3 on the overall disc sales chart but came in at No. 2 on the Blu-ray Disc chart, where “Conjuring 2” finished third.

VideoScan data shows that Captain America: Civil War generated 70% of its total unit sales from Blu-ray Disc, compared with 41% for Conjuring 2. Blu-ray accounted for 53% of Jungle Book unit sales in its third week.

Home Media Magazine project that Ghostbusters will beat Ice Age and Tarzan to be #1 this week.

Will find out later today.

:)

And Ghostbusters sold 39% more units than Tarzan despite grossing only 1% more at the box office. GB is beloved by audiences and will make a lot of money for Sony on home video, it will end up being a very profitable movie for Sony as I've been predicting for months.
