Warming up for the Oscars with the soundtrack for The Guest.

 

Kinda makes me hope the final hour of the ceremony suddenly becomes, like the movie, a cross between Halloween and a Liam Neeson flick.

 

So like the Guest I'll be wishing it ended half way through.

I watched FAR FROM HEAVEN again last night in preparation for this. If she loses I'll watch The Forgotten tomorrow.

I'm warming up with The Theory of Everything score cause it's the only one I haven't listened to. It's okay. Kinda bland whimsical.

 

It better not be another Golden Globe situation. The Zimmer Space Organ for Best Original Score.

I learned long ago to stop caring what gets nominated or wins. It's rare that a film I think should win does.

God dammit, Ethan. They aren't biased against blockbusters. Return of the King won Best Picture in 2003. The Dark Knight, even though it missed Best Picture, was nominated for 8 Oscars. Avatar was nominated for BP. Toy Story 3, Inception, Life of Pi, Argo, District 9.

 

And you're forgetting Gravity, which won more Oscars than any film in the 2010s to date, not the least of which was Alfonso Cuaron's win for Best Director - the only time anyone has ever won for directing a sci-fi film.

The fact that they nominated Boyhood, Birdman, and Whiplash for Best Picture says otherwise.

I'm not saying they're is anything wrong with picking ( with lack of a better term) “Oscar Type films." This films very well may (and probably do) desever their norms. But say, was Imitation Game really a better movie than Dawn of the planet of the Apes? Was Selma better than Interstellar?
