Weekend 3/13-15 Official Estimates: Cinderella 70.1m, RAN 11m

Recommended Posts

Let's not forget there are other movies out right now and they're all performing atrociously. This weekend will change the situation but not by much. Right now I'd say it's looking to end up below 2011 in ticket sales (about $718m, will need about $400m after the weekend).

March has been awful so far. Next couple of weeks don't look any better. Cinderella not even getting 70M after a 23M OD is disappointing, IMO. Insurgent will not do 50M next weekend, Home is gonna bomb Turbo style and Get Hard is far from a guaranteed thing.

I hope Divergent 2 opens below $50m.

I fell asleep watching the first film, it was so boring.

I think it'll decrease from the first film, it wasn't amazingly well received so there doesn't seem to be much hype. And the marketing is messy. I saw a TV spot yesterday and to anyone who hadn't seen the first film, it made zero sense.

It makes zero sense to any one who saw the first film and/or read the book as well.

Haha even worse then

I still can't believe Lionsgate is splitting Allegiant into 2 movies

Part of me wishes that Harry Potter had never been adapted to film, then we wouldn't have all this YA garbage.

We only have 3 franchises. Compared to a lot of other genre films (hate to go there with comic book movies) that is quite muted.

Garbage?????????????? No. The Hunger Games franchise is great. Divergent wasn't anything species but it was good. I haven't seen The Maze Runner but most people speak positively about it.

YA≠ garbage

I watched it on the flight to kill the time. It was so boring that I wanted to stop during the whole movie. But I really had nothing to do so finished anyway

Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games, Divergent, Maze Runner, Percy Jackson... not to mention the dozens that bombed and didn't become franchises.

Also I'm not defending comic book films. I frankly despise the mass production of superhero films that we currently have, just as much as young-adult, slightly more so actually.
