Dark Prince
Just wanted to come out of my who-knows-how-long-it's-been hibernation to say how exciting this weekend is, and it's barely started. Going to an 11pm showing tonight, so I have 3 hours to kill. Thank you reserved seating
GiantCALBears
The Avengers have been around since the 1960's. Marvel has been around since the late 1930's. It already has the longer legacy. You are dreaming if you think any of that content comes close to the impact Potter the book series has had on kids & will for generations to come. Sorry it's the truth with all due respect to comic book fans. Edited May 1, 2015 by GiantCALBears

Walt Disney
In the US at least. As an overseas person I didn't even know about The Avengers before 2012. That's a very fair distinction to make.

redfirebird2008
What do you think about saturday now with these bigger number? Honestly have no idea. The bigger tonight goes, the tougher it will be for this one to pull a TA1/IM3 tomorrow. It will be interesting to watch the little aspects of this run. We always knew it would be a mega opener. The "how" is more interesting at this point than the actual totals.

Sorry it's the truth with all due respect to comic book fans. Marvel has already done it and for longer than Potter. You may not like it, but it doesn't change that it's the way that things are. Heretic
Sad to see DH2's record go down. But that day was nuts. Way more excting than any box office milestones AoU will hit.

Noctis
Books much more so than the films though. Of course. Films had a big impact, but the Potter books were unlike anything the world has seen.
GiantCALBears
And Star Wars craps on both of em. Not exactly the case with Potter, I'll concede it's way more apart of pop culture history in importance than the avengers or MCU. That's really easy.
