Charlize Theron Teaming with JOHN WICK Directors for Spy Thriller COLDEST CITY

Per Deadline, Charlize Theron is set to star in The Coldest City with Leitch and Stahelski directing, and production planning to get underway this October in Germany. Based on the Antony Johnston graphic novel of the same name, the thriller revolves around a super spy (Theron) who is spurred into action when an underground MI6 officer is killed just before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Theron will also produce the project, which boasts a screenplay by Kurt Johnstad (300: Rise of an Empire) and will be released in North America by Focus Features.

Focus Features has staked out Aug. 11, 2017 for David Leitch’s The Coldest City starring Charlize Theron as Lorraine Broughton, a top-level MI6 spy who heads to Berlin on the eve of the Wall’s collapse to take down an espionage ring that just killed an undercover agent. Lorraine is ordered to cooperate with Berlin station chief David Percival (James McAvoy), and the two form an uneasy alliance, unleashing their full arsenal of skills in pursuing a threat that jeopardizes the West’s entire intelligence operation.

'Is a poppy, punk-rock take on the genre by fight choreographer-turned-director David Leitch (John Wick). It’s Berlin, 1989. Depeche Mode and New Order dominate the airwaves, the wall is about to come down, and Theron’s character Lorraine Broughton is sent into the chaotic city to retrieve a most-wanted dossier."
