Skipped the last 7 pages, but I'm curious why everyone thinks that IO, the more matinee driven of the two, will drop harder than JW when most theaters will be slow from 4pm on?

Based from the past weekends performances. JW has always had the lesser drops. But then again, its the independence day weekend so it could be different this time.

Since AMERICAN SNIPER is technically a 2014 movie, this could be the first time since 2000 that WB won't have a 200 M movie in a single year.

JW will win if it plays out like last weekend. Last weekend JW was .35m behind IO on Friday but won the weekend by over 2m. This Friday JW is .7m behind IO, which means it should still be a solid 1m ahead for the weekend if JW's holds are similar in comparison to IO last weekend.

Yes, but JW doesn't have a full normal Saturday (which is the day it held better and made up what it was lacking on friday).

It also lost theaters and IMAX that it had last weekend.

Basically it needs to make up more with less.
