Honestly think that "Highest grossing movie to never hit #1" record is a much bigger deal (as a long standing record that isn't going to fall soon) than merely reaching #1 on its third weekend.

MCU doesn't have room for any more characters. All the FF haters saw Age Of Ultron, right? Too crowded already. Let them stay somewhere where it's just them and the X-Men. At least they'll have a chance to shine there.

The only reason I might want Marvel to get hold of Fantastic Four is for Dr. Doom to play as a big Villain type role. Other than that Fox can have everybody else.

Doesn't help when 96% of the audience is one gender. Limits potential big time.

I agree, a movie that only appeals to one quadrant (adult women) is not going to make a big splash at the box office.

Plus a lot of women didn't like the first movie because they thought the movie was about stripping.

Channing Tatum has always said about both movies, " this is a movie about STRIPPERS" he never said it was about STRIPPING.

Some people were disappointed because it wasn't a lot of stripping.

Both movies are character driven movie, about the ups and downs of the strippers.

This might as well have the "Weekend Photo Finish" record even if it's nowhere near that. The Never #1 record is too significant.

actually the R rating does not affect it's box office because Tammy opened with 21 million(33 million 5 days) and made 84 million domestic, Terminator 3 did 44 million(72 million 5 days) and made 150 million domestic. So no Magic Mike was lost in a shuffle in which even if it came last weekend it would not have done anything different it should have been released on Mother's Day weekend instead of the 4th of July weekend.

Tammy opened on a Friday, MMXXL opened on Wednesday. So you are comparing apple and oranges with weekend box office numbers.

Im soooo happy Magic Mike XL did so poorly. Yes I know its budget is small but I still love that it didn't do fireworks at the boxoffice.
