I agree, look at Shrek Forever After, much better film compared to Shrek the Third but still decreased domestically and that had way less competition than DM3

I think the DM and Minions fans are going to be for a shock when it does decrease domestically, OS, it might increase a bit but I wouldn't be surprised if it decreases OS in many places.

Minions will end up 35m less than DM2 domestically

Shrek 3 ended a whopping 120m less than Shrek 2 domestically

Not an accurate comp.

I don't think so. I still think DM3 will be on par or more.

Depends on the quality of course so early to tell but that's just my prediction. We can't say foregone conclusion when everyone before Minions hit the market said Minions won't make huge numbers bec Gru and the girls are not there

The film in the franchise to follow DM2 was always going to decrease whether it was Minions or DM3. DM2 was just a perfect storm that brewed and I don't think it could've been topped. Of course I might be wrong but we'll never know. When DM3 comes out it well have been 4 years since DM2 which was well liked but not loved the way nthr first one was. Throw in Minions which is viewed as a decent flick but at this point DM3 doesn't feel like an event. It feels like just another film in the franchise. I expect numbers around the first one's gross personally.

True...it could happen.

But the thing with Shrek 4, though....is that it was a direct sequel to Shrek 3....and people hated Shrek 3....which had all the title characters. And Shrek 4 was mixed....(better reception than the third one..but still mediocre reception).

Now..lowest grosser in the DM franchise, is the first one with $251M DOM. DM3 won't get lower than that.....but could hit $270-280M minimum. And it could be a better animated sequel than Shrek 4.
